Each Sydney Hunter game is a different adventure

and the guy who is programming the game is also very talented
The guy who did the graphics is the same guy who did the the ones for the NES game

I'm sure people will enjoy both games, even if they're different

I didn't mean for my comment to imply that the SNES programmer wasn't talented.  I'm sure that he is.

It was more along the lines of "feel", that if you have two simultaneous development exercises going on, then both programmers are independently solving "feel" related design problems (i.e. movement, jumping/gravity, animation, etc) so that while statically the two games can look very similar (i.e. same artist), dynamically they are entirely different experiences.

I would have thought it would make more sense to "solve" the problems related to feel/movement/etc in one game, and transfer lessons learned to a second game in the series, rather than attempting to do two parallel human-factors development tasks that are really both trying to solve the same problem.

Not saying it is bad, or wrong.  Just noting that it seems unusual.
But I guess what you guys are doing in terms of multi-system development isn't really "usual" anyway.

Ok, I understand

however, both programmer have refference from the existing flash game
even though, like I said, both games are way different anyway

we're even planning a thrid adventure wich will also be a way different

yeah, we're kind of doing unusual things.

Didn't realize that you had everybody starting from a prototype flash game.

That makes more sense, since presumably you already worked through some of the gameplay kinks and have a general "feel" in mind.

So how difficult are you aiming to make the game on a scale of 1 to 10 with super mario bros being a 1 and Battle Kid being a 10?

Will probably be easier if you get off your skateboard to play it.

I didn't know you had a snes version also. I saw the NES one on AtariAge and suggested just sending you my wallet then. Now I'm sure.

If you get a Genesis game in the works I'm down for that as well

We just found a Genesis programer for a new game as well.  We plan on beginning development for that game in October. It'll be an original game and we'll probably port it to the Sega CD as well with cut scenes and enhanced audio etc.

Yeah, I was wondering the same thing the other day but forgot to bump this thread. The trailer looked very promising. Any news on when the NES game might be released?

You mean Mayan's Revenge?
if yes, then next year

I'm taking this occasion to announce that Sydney Hunter & The Caverns of Death will also be available for the NES as well!  Yay!

in fact, it was first going to be a NES game but since we didn't have a programer available at that time, we converted all graphics into 16 bits for the SNES
So good news, it will also be available for our beloved NES

So we're getting two Sydney Hunter games for NES instead of one? That's so cool. Will they be boxed releases or cart only?

I needed to post something here. Unfortunately, my role in this project has ended. With the way everything has been over the past few months, I've had little time to focus on things, let alone this project. I've never quit a programming project before, but I have no choice.

I am hopeful that things will improve this year, but regardless, I won't be the programmer for this.
