I am very happy to announce the release of The Legends of Owlia for the Nintendo Entertainment System. This game started out as an idea with some friends back in 5^th grade when I was about 11 years old. I tried to bring it to life after I'd learned a little QBasic around age 14, but lacked the discipline required. After a hiatus of about 15 years, life taught me a thing or two and I decided to finish the game, on my favorite video game system from my youth. My wife Laurie and I worked hard on this game for the past three and a half years, and we're really happy with how it turned out.

This auction is being done in similar fashion to auctions by rizz, Khan, and MRN. I am grateful to them for blazing this trail.

 

All proceeds of this auction will go to helping my mother in law, Leslie, who has recently overcome throat cancer and needs help paying medical bills. Otherwise I'd probably not be doing an auction and it'd just be first come first serve. This being the case, Laurie and I are extremely grateful to the NA community for their enthusiasm for NES homebrew, making this possible for us.

The Limited Edition of The Legends of Owlia will include the following:

• Unique Limited Edition Cartridge (yellow), with the label hand numbered in gold ink by me 1-50

• Limited Edition Box (with dust sleeve & spacer), numbered in gold ink by me 1-50.

• Instruction manual – 24 pages in color

• A collectible barn owl finger puppet from Folkmanis puppets. It looks just like Tyto, from the game!

• The Title Screen will show your number at the top 1-50

Alternative photo of the cartridge as per request (this is NOT a separate product, just a photo of the cartridge outside of the sleeve)

Bidding Rules:

You only get to place ONE bid. This will be your ONLY BID.

The Auction will run for approximately a 48 hour period. The start of the auction will be April 6, 10pm NA time. The end of the auction will be April 8, 10pm NA time (however, any bid prior to April 6 is welcome).
The auction will be extended 5 minutes from the original posted end time if there is bidding activity within the last 5 minutes. If there are any further bids during this extended period, the auction will be extended a further 5 minutes from the time of the bid. This process will continue until 5 minutes elapses between bids. If a bid should happen to come in at just over 5 minutes (5:03 or even 5:05), this will be considered within the 5 minute guideline.
The top 5 bidders will get to choose their numbers. Earliest requests for the same numbers amongst those 5 individuals will receive preference. The remaining copies will be sorted based on the size of the bid, and if any bids are the same, by when the bid came in. If any timestamps are the same, then it will go by post order in this thread (unlikely, but hey, I'm a programmer so I think about edge cases a lot).

Only 50 Limited Edition copies of The Legends of Owlia will exist, and they will be numbered on the Box and on the Title Screen of the game. This auction is for Limited Edition Copies from 1 through 50 (50 copies).

After the close of the auction, send your payment via paypal or personal check within a week of the auction end. Please pm me for contact information and to do an NA transaction if you wish.

Shipping will be through InfiniteNesLives and you will be charged for shipping on top of your bid amount the same as though you purchased through the InfiniteNesLives website. Games should be ready to ship by the 21^st of April, but may be delayed. Remember, this is a small operation of just a handful of people who do this not for money but for love, so please have patience with us.

I actually joined NA just to jump on this auction. (Hoping that won't raise too many red flags - I use this name a number of other places if that helps!) The game looks pretty amazing, and I want to play it on a real console.

Will this be available on InfiniteNesLives as a non-special-edition after the auction? Just curious for if I don't manage to get one.
