Archon is finished as well. I won a game as both the Light side and the Dark side. Not much else I could do, really.

Been working on Mega Man 5 for the past couple hours, and what happens when I get to the first Wily stage after beating Dark Man?  The damn game freezes!!!  Looks like I get to do the last hour of work all over again...

-------------------------

My NES collection count: 757 games (16 to go for a full set)

Latest Purchase(s): Snow Brothers

"Wait...Bimmy and Jimmy??  How'd they make a mistake like this!?  Bimmy isn't even a real name!"

So total, how many games were actually beaten last year?

-------------------------
Check out this really awesome WTB thread that I found, I heard this guy wants games at the cheapest rate possible!  Now on the look out for Unlicensed NES!

Enslaved, I'm so not counting that. Rough guess is about a 50% completion. Most of what didn't get finished were some of the doozy hard ones, rares, and unpopular RPGs. Also very little love for Bases Loaded, since not one was beaten. Seems anything requiring time to do didn't get touched, but if people decide to chip away at them (beat something easy and play an hour of an RPG, then beat something easy for a change of pace), it should clear the list out near the end of the year. Should.

-------------------------

"It's always amazing to me how some of the most worthless games from a gaming perspective tend to fetch outrageous amounts of money. But then again, it could be said that something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. I'm curious if the high bidder of the $873.04 Stadium Events (cart-only) realizes that it's nowhere nearly as rare as about 20+ games I can think of that sell for 1/10th that amount?  At any rate, I wanted to draw attention to this trend: if people say it's rare, it must be true, and therefore it must be had at any price."

Bases Loaded 3 sounds tougher than you would think...pitching an error free game on the highest difficulty.  Not sure if the difficulty level is actually required or if it's AdamL's bias toward it, but it sounds likely that it needs to be an error-free game on the highest difficulty.  He doesn't have any other games from the series listed there, but it may be tougher than you expect.

I don't have any Bases Loaded games, so I couldn't beat any.

Beat Conan. Doubt anyone else aside from me would put enough time into it to beat it, and I claimed it last year

I'm down to do some RPGs. I have quite a few of them. Not doing Dragon Warrior II though since I claimed that one last year.

I did a quick count of the 2010 games that were beaten, and counting the red (unbeatable) games it looked like we completed 560/794 games that were listed. This is not including the multicart games i.e. Action 52, or any famicom games.

Goddamnit, I was about to claim Galaga

All it takes is to get the top score though. No maps to repeat or anything, so just placing first is enough.

Anyway, I can still lay claim to DK3. Saw all 3 stages and got a free life (since there's no high score to beat, that is the score criteria, a la DK and DKJr).

Also, that's pretty damn sweet Jesse...didn't realize we were THAT close...

560 out of 794 isn't bad for a first try.
Going to see if I can get Double Dragon 3 out of the way tonight. Can't say I'm being very keen of this new rule so far.

It gives you a reason to play games you haven't played much before. That in itself is a good reason to put the rule in. Fact is, you're still gonna play the shit out of Punch Out as well as your other favorites...just keeps them in the mix for other people who want to give them a go is all. As easily as I can pound out The Punisher or Wizardry II, fact is I'd be able to pound them out on day one with little competition from anyone else (pretty sure with a bit of luck on my side I can actually run Wizardry II in under 6 hours, including level grinding, and Punisher is only an hour long). I'd rather give someone else a chance to play and enjoy them as much as I have/do.

Yes, it's a valid reason.
But I'll have a hard time staying on the top three this year, given that I have beaten most of the games I own last year.
Some new games will have to be bought during the course of the year.
