Just got this in the mail today! Just wanted the pros to verify that this is a prototype.  Only had to pay 20 bucks for it.  I tried it out and it works, says version 6.0, which I believe is the same as the other Bible Buffet proto in the database.

James-It was a private deal. It was offered, I had no idea they had this.

Wisdom Tree and some other unlicensed NES games are a little difficult to verify as prototypes by looking at the board. This is because they frequently used EPROMs in production games. Ver 6.0 was the release version of Bible Buffet. That being said I think you got a steal. At $20 I am envious. If you want help backing it up, I would be willing to dump it free of charge. I know some other members would be happy to as well. Congrats on the pickup.

Congrats, but, if anyone wants a prototype, looks like all they have to do is strip off the label, and put that on it. I'm not even sure if you can say this is one, as Xerxes says, alot of those carts EPROMS

Unfortunately, Xerxes hit the nail on the head with this one. Unless it is on a dev board, is an unreleased game, has code that varies greatly from the final, or was purchased with a known history, third party NES protos are extremely difficult to verify. For this reason, Matt and I rarely buy them unless they're from a known proto collector like dream, or if they're unreleased. Tengen is a different story as they mirrored Nintendo's model morso than other unlicensed companies.

Very cool for sure, and could certainly be legit, but no way to confirm really.

Thanks for the info guys. I'm pretty confident it's the real deal. About a month ago I emailed WisdomTree to inquire about getting some boxes, stickers and whatever else they had. I got an email back from the owner, Brenda Huff with a order list. I ordered one of everything and paid. About 10 min later I got a another message from her saying she found a Bible Buffet Beta cart and I could have it for 20 dollars. Really cool day for me. I don't collect these but I sure appreciate what it represents.

That's that known history piece that's important for these sorts of protos. Fantastic piece, thanks for sharing!

That's really cool getting it offered to you so cheaply directly from the owner. Are you sure it's identical to the official release? Or have you not played through it yet to see?

Could be legit. The copy on NesCartDB has EEPROMs instead of the EPROMs on yours. I'm no expert though and there could be different versions of regular cart.

Nightowljrm: I haven't had the time to play through it yet, too busy catching up on the Walking Dead TV series =) Hope to pick up a retail copy to see if there are any differences soon.
Moothead2: Thanks for the link, it does look different.

Yep, it's definitely 100% legit.  Congrats!  Im shocked that she still has stuff left.  I was in contact with her in early 2007 and scored a few things.

Now I am really jealous. I emailed her about a year ago specifically looking for this kind of thing.  I came up empty. Congrats again. If you got it from her, it is the real deal. You may want to look into any differances. Some of the wisdom tree prototypes are known to have a lot of differances. http://www.nintendoplayer.com/prototype/spiritual-warfare-pr...
