I think I'm starting to hit my peak. Just shy of 200k my last serious run. Dunno if I'm going to be able to tackle that top position! I'll sure try though

^How is it to play on the 3DS, just thought about purchasing it.

Seeing as how we tied a record last week for most participants in a Weekly Contest and we already have 20 scores submitted so far for Donkey Kong, I want to see if we can set a record this week for most participants ever! If we can get 53 or more participants this week, I will give away a CIB copy of 8-Bit X-Mas 2013! The give away will work the same as the one last week for Fix it Felix Jr and will be a random drawing. But this ONLY happens if we get 53 or more participants! Who is THIS guy?!? Marios great grandpa? Those overalls are hilarious when he's on the ladder lmao! He's stiff as a board and he acts like he might break his back if he jumps to far... Oh wait he does lol! This guy might as well be in a wheel chair. You know his ears are probably full of hair and he needs to turn his hearing aid up cause he doesn't realize his shoes are shot and squeak like a damn mouse every time he takes a step. He probably forgot them out on the porch one night and they got rained on but he couldn't tell or remember. Figured I'd take a quick shot at this between classes. Sorry for the crappy picture, cell phone had trouble cooperating. Hopefully I can do much better when I have some more free time.

Sadly I don't own a copy of this game right now, but I think the highest score I've ever gotten was only around 90k.

I think it's fine. I had some left over Club Nintendo coins so I figured why not use them? I actually tend to do better in games on handhelds or smaller screens than I do on bigger screens. But yeah there's nothing wrong with Donkey Kong (or any Virtual Console game) on 3DS. They all play exactly as they should.

Won't be able to play again until thursday but I am looking forward to trying to improve my score. Loving all the early submissions. 22 so far and it's only tuesday,wow! 53 here we come!

Santa since you own all the 8 bit xmas games,(I mean you are Santa) care to say anything about the 8 bit xmas 2013 game? How does it play? I'm curious myself as I've never played any of them nor seen any gameplay videos of it.

I think I may give this a go. I probably have extra coins to use as well. Why not make them useful!

2013 8-bit Xmas is a shooter type game with Christmas music and some Christmas-y elements.
It plays like a version of Galaga where your sleigh at the bottom of the screen has to dodge projectiles while shooting the enemies cycling through the top of the screen.

It's test to see how high you can get your score.
Of course there are the famous blinky lights on the cart and switchable Christmas tunes to listen to while you play.

Im a fan of all of the 8-bit Xmas carts, and although I love the log cabin on the label for that year, I'm not a big fan of the clear label.
2013 is the only year that has the clear label.

It's a great prize to be sure though.

Is the top-of-the-ladder trick on the barrel stage allowed?  I figured I should ask now before I play anymore, since I've already been using it.

I would say that everyone who knows about it is using it. I would think anyway.

Yeah, the barrel trick is allowed, so go on and abuse it like it should be

Also, I see that most are taking their picture after starting a new game, but it would be best to pause the game immediately once you lost your last life, and take the picture then. This way we can see on what level you made your score, and it would be quite important if someone roll the score.

Edit : I see that it was actually written in the rules to start a new game and take a picture of the top score. I'll change that, but will add that while it isn't mandatory if you don't roll the score, it is still best to take the picture right after losing your last life.
