Wait until you find out about Ask Jeeves, Lycos, and Dogpile. Also AngelFire, Proboards, InvisionFree, deviantArt, ICQ, and mIRC.

Heck, Telnet boards are still up if you’re into that.

wow, I remember Lycos

Reminded me of MUDs, anybody used them? I didn't used them for long but it was kind of mind blowing back in the day. A quick google showed me that https://www.mudconnect.com/... is still up and running

I used to make some pretty sweet wrestling websites on geocities and homestead back in the day as a 12 year old. You could email me on my excite.com account on the cyberspace or just drop a line in my guestbook

Were you part of a webring? And did you monitor your hit counter daily?

Oh my God guys, stop talking about all this - it's giving me a nostalgia meltdown. It's like you're describing middle school

Edit: fuck it, who else had a Pokemon website on homestead (or geocities)? I try every now and then to wayback machine that shit, but talk about some lost-to-the-ethers-of-time parts of the internet. I even had a rom site lol.

I didn't have one, but once I realized Missingno was real, I fell way down the rabbit hole trying to find Pikablu and incorrect ways to get Mew and wasted weeks of my life. The good old days when it was somewhat reasonable to believe a crazy rumor with no photo evidence. And I was the first kid in my school to find a Charizard card, so after that I used to keep up on the bullshit values people would put on their websites and wrote them all out on my binder

Well friend, you woulda loved my Pokemon site - half the "pages" were modern Pokemon secrets and rumors, including good ole Pikablu lol.... I remember my older brother telling me once, "Hey one of the younger kids in your grade told me he looked at your site and it's wrong!" Haha good ole days!

...and nothing of value was lost?

Can't believe up until recently you could still see your old myspace stuff (which was also news to me).
