I beat Gunforce today. It took me about 20 minutes. I couldn't imagine being a kid and getting that game for Christmas - back when games had to last you a while. That game isn't terrible, but definitely a Contra rip off. The controls were ass backwards (you jump with X,Y,L, or R and shoot with A or B).

I haven't played anything on the SNES for a LONG time now, but I figured I'd bump the thread to give it a bit more love. There's still some easy ones on the list. Also, to the OP - don't get discouraged about the lack of progress to the goal. The NES list took 3 years to get within striking range of completion. I don't see 500 games being finished in the next couple weeks, but it'd be cool to see how far the thread actually gets

Thanks, i hope to also contribute more to this thread as well staring next year!!
Bump and updated!

It didn't help that the activitiy in this thread was off and on for a while. There were weeks were no one would post. It's understandable though, because this forum is mainly for NES collectors. But still, I think if we got people responding on a regular basis - talking about the games, giving feedback, etc, we would complete a lot more. I also think if we kept track of how many games each member beat it would provide motivation.

Do you plan on updating this thread again next year Daywalker?

Took out an easy one, figured I might as well contribute SOMETHING WWF Royal Rumble is done.

But then again, it could be said that something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. I'm curious if the high bidder of the $873.04 Stadium Events (cart-only) realizes that it's nowhere nearly as rare as about 20+ games I can think of that sell for 1/10th that amount?  At any rate, I wanted to draw attention to this trend: if people say it's rare, it must be true, and therefore it must be had at any price."

I finished to HARD difficulty "Magical Quest starring Mickey Mouse, The" just for fun because impossible to complete 504 games in 14 days but it would be a good idea to extend the challenge for another year

If you need help again I am always available but for now I'm going returned to try to finish the 11 nes games remaining

The SNES thread is in it's first year. The NES one is in it's third, and had to have some modifications to the list to even get close (the two years I ran it I had unlicensed games and PAL exclusives on the list as well). January 1 will essentially reset the list in a new thread, if anyone decides to remake the thread (this sort of thing needs the OP to be active, or the thread kinda falls to the wayside). Every year makes more progress, so I expect this number to grow next year.

Yep I 100% agree on that. It was the first year, kinda of a rocky first year but I promise that next years will be more fun and interesting to check out! I have been thinking and I am getting ideas to make this thread more noticeable???

And with that comment..Bump and updated!

Ok suck it up SNES gamers. The NES guys will probably finish their thread this year, and it's our job to make sure that 2013, at the very least, is our year to complete every licensed NTSC SNES game. I didn't even know this thread existed until like a week ago, so I will commit more time to completing games, and I know a lot of the guys from the weekly tournament tinychat will help too. So let's just look forward to a great 2013.

Would also be really cool to make sure pics are provided before crossing a game off on the new forum and maybe even add a list of the top user that beat the most games (just like the NES forum did).

If pics are required, you can count me out. I'm not gonna bother taking pictures of every game I beat, and even if I did, I'd be FAR too lazy to post them. It's an honor system thing...there's no prizes for participating, or any real tangible benefit for that matter. Anyone who would lie about beating a game for a thread that serves no purpose other than to get people motivated to beat games is, quite frankly, a tool. I could see if prizes were awarded or something, then there'd be a reason to require photographic evidence, but as it is, it's just a stupid idea that will only serve to demotivate people that are as lazy as myself.

Yes you make a valid point I guess the honor system will always be the best!

Why don't you start the thread?  I'd do it if I wasn't about to get some hardcore NES gaming started in 12 minutes

I would but I don't have the list prepared, and I don't want to steal daywalker's list, AND usurp his place as the SNES list guy. I know he wanted to do it. If there isn't a list up by tomorrow I will I guess. I am always online so maintaining it and updating it will be easy.

Dam we failed miserably with this compared to The NeS. What's the deal? Are they all just harder or do people just hate how bad most of the snes game are

I only discovered these threads in the last few months of 2012, and I've been focusing on my NES collection all year, and not SNES that much.
In 2013 I will definitely be focusing on SNES more so I hope to be playing lots of SNES too.

A lot more people were dedicated to trying to finish NES. Most of the people on the site are NES fans, but we've got me and crabmaster this year (unless he is going to chicken out). So this will be our year.
