Had a smooth run up until World 6.  Iceland is my favorite but always gives me trouble, the ice is too unpredictable.  Had a close call in stage 6-3 but pulled it off.  Fell off the edge of the ice in stage 6-4.  Score of 834,830.

Well it's a risk, especially in this contest which takes quite a long time. A slight tap or a controller shake and you might bring on the dreaded blinking coloured screen!

I may have to throw down a couple rounds on this contest. I have 2 arcade cabs I'm working on pulled out and in front of my tv right now so I may have to try on the Playchoice cab. We'll see how that goes because I have never been great at the Mario games with the arcade stick.

So here I am in 3-6, 399,420 points, Liam (the cat) comes into the room, and starts ripping on the carpet, so I hit pause and yell at him to knock it of. Little did I know I was standing on a white block. The second I unpause I just naturally hit B to start running, and BAM! The white block was over a hole!!!! I couldn't help but laugh, it was so ridiculous.

Well, I had something in the mid-400's before the pyramid of world 2. Unfortunately, I foolishly decided to fight the fire brothers with only a mushroom power up. Admittedly, it was a dumb way to die.

I haven't been able to, been out a lot, plus mom's had a lot of days off, also my brother has a new job, not working nights anymore, so no free use of the tv to play games, at least not during the day, and since I done changed my sleeping habits, no chance to play anything. Maybe I'll be able to play something today or tomorrow, but then again maybe not since my brother won't be working weekends anymore. Agh. Oh well.

This is a really time consuming one, even if you have a bad run.

I hit something in the 500's yesterday, and made a stupid error and got gobbled up by Big Bertha. 

It's tough to sit through more than one play in an evening.

I knew the damn 3rd ring was coming, but I didnt have much of a choice other then to try and jump on wendys head, and then my GF goes and beats it on her first try with small mario the whole way....

Well here's my shot at it. 482,390 and was killed in World 4 by the big Hammer Brother. I was on a roll.

Well, played a whole game of SMB3, all the way through up to the ending, but as far as the contest, I got up to world 6, first fortress before having my first death, my score at this time was 865.600.

Don't know how many deaths I had total, will have to count those up afterwards, but I did pretty good, I'm guessing less than 10, which is easily better than the last time I beat the game some years ago, will get the exact count once I'm able. Can only work in Windows Movie Maker for a little bit at a time since it heats of the computer really bad, I should hopefully have vids up tomorrow for this, once I do I'll post the link to the playlist. Anyway, this is it for me, 3 hours 4 minutes playing is a long time, not up for doing that again, I got pretty far I think before my first death, as far as I had expected, actually dying where I've typically died in the past, I'm satisfied with this run.

Okay, just finished watching all my vids of my gameplay, getting ready to upload them to my Youtube channel. I ended up having a total of 6 deaths in the whole game, well now, that's really, really good, for me anyway being as how I usually play this game only once every half decade or so.

Nice! I knew once I posted my high score someone would immediately come out and post something to crush it. Good job, I would've loved to have gotten that far before my first death, but I knew it'd end at world 6 for me. You are one awesome gamer guillavoie.

I was working on improving my game since the beginning of the week, and it was actually my first attempt to do a score. I've been lucky here and there for not losing a life stupidly, and dying at 7-3 is satisfying for me.

that's impressive. I have to admit I tried and died somewhere with 800k or so. It's been so long that every level looked new to me after world 2. I think the score is out of (my) reach now.... so thanks for saving me time

Man, I totally understand your relief.  I was semi-hoping to die earlier Yesterday cause it was like 2:00 AM and I was still playing. The game is way longer than I remembered.

I feel the same way.  I haven't played this game in years, precisely because it does take so long (talk about a game that needed a save feature!).

Now I can actually be productive today!

SMB3 never gets old for me. It gets better with age.

And yes, this game does need a save feature. I remember plaing this game as a kid and going very far without any rest and my fingers were sore as hell.

yeah i have only played 4 times, it takes way too long. i actually had 913,000 by the mini castle on the start of level 2.

Took me 5 hours and 15 minutes, but I beat every level and every world and didn't die at all (although, I came close like 3 times)
