This game scoring system is very unfriendly to track which score relates to what game.

I explain. Here a 110000 points perfect made with Orchid against Riptor, 4 stars, stage 1, done pretty much just (not even so much) timely jumping and kicking. Nothing else, no special moves, and so on. Just jump and kick. Then lost miserably in purpose on stage 2.

Then let say the player has another game where reaches stage 6 or 7 or 8 or so but without any perfect. Now, the player uses the same 3 letters name in every game, and posts streak victory screen reporting 6, 7, 8, or so, and score screen reporting 110000 on the highest position for such name.

Problem is, that score was not related to that longest streak game. Moreover, it is possible that scores from shorter streak games "push out" from the high score table the score of the game with the best streak.

I fear I am not explaining the issue too well, but please try to think about the scenario where you play several games without resetting the console: you best streak is very likely to be any of your scores, and likely to be related to none of such high scores, and with the score resetting between fight you can not even visually keep track of how many points you have made in such best streak game.

I posted the speed screen for a similarity example. If you ask me if the best speed game is the same game in which I scored 110000 points, I say I don't know.
So, here the question:
- do we consider tiebreaker the absolutely highest score, no matter if related to the best streak game or not [ie. you are allowed to be ranked using the (absolute) longest streak from a game, and the (absolute) highest score from a perfect in another game]?
or
- we make sure to reset the console after each game to avoid confusion in which is the "real" high score related to the longest streak game to be taken into consideration for competition purposes?

What I am trying to say it is that is it extremely unlikely, after playing several games without resetting the console, to associate each score in the high score screen to that specific game in which you had the best streak.

So either the absolute best high score counts as a tiebreaker, no matter if performed in such longest streak game or not, or maybe it is best I guess to ask players to reset the console after each game to make sure to avoid confusion when posting the picture and indicating which of those score is related to such game (this is my question)???

All this since the best streak does not forcefully include the best single fight score. Actually playing several games it is quite hard to track in which game the best score happened.

I hope that all this makes sense in English.

Had a break from the hospital while the babies were in the nursery so I did a Total Carnage attempt. Actually managed to beat the game, first time ever

Biggest tip = use your mines for their temporary shield they give you

You beat the game??

I felt awesome when I finally made it past the first boss.

Even with all the weapons and extra lives the game throws at you, it's hard as hell.

Yep, actually no-deathed Orcus

The arc'ing weapon does exponentially more damage than anything else to bosses

Stay away from edges as much as possible so you dan react to missiles. Also so you can beeline to an extra life

I did a score run including optional areas and got 250K+
When I beat it I skipped what I could and got 195K

This close to 1CC'ing it.  This is the final form of the boss's 8 or so forms.  Seconds from finishing him off.  Oh well.

Sorry for the minor inconvience.  This is why bimmy has guillavoie to throroughly test everything for a month

And I still goofed up in numerous occasions, so there's no reason to feel bad about it, haha.

Score updated.
Definitely a tough game to play using a keyboard.
Anyone else besides me and the leader is playing this?

I having a real tough time bettering my scores on either game. My posted scores were just some of my initial attempts to get the ball rolling but today I've just hit a wall.

I got a 9 streak on killer instinct two more times. Screw that Fulgore guy! I continued to see how far I could get and ended up beating Eyedol on my first try. Took three attempts to get passed fulgore though.

My best so far is 6. I know I can do better. For some reason, fighting games just aren't very responsive in emulator for me. I really need to play on SNES, but it's just not an option right now.

I think I could do ok at Total Carnage with some practice. What a brutally hard game, though.

Thanks for writing. I apologize for the delay in responding to your email during this busy time of year.
In regard to your email, it is great to hear that you have found a copy of Perfect Dark for the Nintendo 64. Perfect dark was a first person shooter game that was released in May of 2000. I personally enjoyed this game a lot during my mid-teen years since it allows for up to four players to play at one time. All the Perfect Dark cartridges were black.

I hope this information is what you are looking for.

Response I received from Nintendo customer support when I asked if they knew any thing about a black Perfect Dark cart.

Yeah, Spinal and Fulgore are both cheap as hell. They both like to teleport behind you and then unload three fireballs on you. Fulgore is definitely worse, but they are both harder to beat than Eyedol.

I only enjoy playing games on the consoles they were designed for. I've bought everdrive's for all my systems and have never looked back. I always prefer playing the actual cartridge but the only time I get to play is in camp at work so the everdrive comes along with me.

Updated my scores all around.
I finally made it past fulgore in the same streak but sadly got wrecked by eyedol. It was a lucky run. Spinal had beat me until I was in the red but I came back to before he hit me again and I was able to unleash a 21-hit combo to win the match. Fulgore went down easy and won with a supreme victory. Eyedol then proceeded to slap me around like a redheaded step child.

I'm also starting to get a hang of total carnage. Orcus is getting much easier now that I'm starting to understand the mechanics better. The blue ring pickup is the most overpowered item in the game and can help out tremendously.

Ah Ah! Congrats. Happy also to see link playing this game. I wonder if some others are.
Unfortunate that you defeated Eyedol before, but could not when it mattered more. You surely have time to do it before the end of the month. I still need to enter the streak high score screen, my longest streak still 4: what a shame, after stating that the game is easier than SFII!

Thanks! The game defenitely ramps up in difficulty after the first few matches. I have specific startegies against certain opponents but I rarely get a streak up to Spinal that I'm not sure the best way to take them on. I've only got the streak to eyedol once but I'm confident I'll be able to do this by the end of the month If my own time constraints don't stop me first.

Cinder, Orchid, Sabrewulf. Tried Jago, Glacius, Folgore and Spinal too.
I can clear the second stage in 18 seconds, but without relying on special moves inputs being always correctly taken from the keyboard, to get past stage 5 it was not possible so far.

The ironic thing is, even if I still had my old SNES, it would be PAL, so not eligible for this contest. I would have to play in emulator anyways.

Edit: minor correction.

I tried a bunch at the beginning of the contest button smashing as much as I could and found that Cinder was the easiest one to perform a special move. I was able to perform combos easily with cinder by starting with Forward-Forward-Y to do the spinning fireball move and then smash between forward, down, Y and X. If pressed in the right sequence 6, 7, or 8 hit combos are pretty easily obtained.

To get the 20+ ultra hit combo's the opponent's health bar needs to be low enough that the combo will kill them. Then perform a master combo and the game will handle the rest. I smash buttons the whole time anyways and can get 21 hit combos but I'm not sure if what I'm doing is helping or it's just luck.

Played another couple of games, (kind of) improved the result. Still streak 4 (ie. reach stage 5), but with a (badly documented) combo now. Score updated in the proper post, but still not high enough to enter the high score screens to take pictures.

More Total Carnage tips:

There are set 1UPs next to US flags. If you grab one, and enter a bonus area, it will re-appear when you come back

On the parade of vehicle stages, stay near the top and just below 45 degrees in front of and on top of the turret APCs to avoid fire

Again, cannot stress the mines enough to give you temporary invulnerability

I know that you are busy with definitely more important tasks (by the way, congrats again!). However, if and when you have 10 seconds of free time, please give credit to MrPeaPod. I mean, please edit "Current Leaders - user + mbd39" in the thread title: it sounds funny and backwards, when he gets to final boss Eyedol, while I not past stage 5.

Yeah, I used to live by Cinder's easy combos, too. I'm still not sure how they work for him, but hitting forward, forward, y does lots of work. His ultra is forward, forward, x as part of a combo, so more of the same, just with a different button. I like Sabrewulf because his combos are easy and I actually know how to do them. I used to be decent with other characters, but I can't play with them like I used to.

Jago was my first choice when I had the game. He also has a pretty good 10/13/17 hits combo, and not too hard to perform with a joypad. I will try him again next time I have a chance to play, let see if old Jago still a better option, no matter not being able to rely too much on his special moves using a keyboard: I'm tired to end up the run in stage 5 with Orchid, or even earlier with Cinder or others. I only had time for like about 20 games so far maybe, so up to the end of the month there is still time to regain familiarity with the game and improve a bit. I strongly doubt to end up in the absolute protagonists, but I'd like to improve my streak a bit.

Made a solid run up to the last boss in total carnage and it looked like an easy win but I ended getting the worst drop luck and had nothing to combat the constant missles he throws at you. Without bombs or the invincibility power up I got slaughtered right before beating it. What a shame...

Updated my score

I doubt to have free time to play and improve before the end of the month. Surely not this week.
What I already posted could likely be all I have to offer to the contest. Yeah, pathetic result.
Best luck everyone. Cheers!
