Sure. At the end of stage 1-1 with the running dog. Just move back and forth to respawn it. Stage 2-2 with any of the running soldier guys. I press with the first one I see before you get to the first hag who throws swords. Stage 3-1 in the area with the 2 cheetahs, hag on the platform, and the machine gunner. Stage 3-2 in any place with the soldiers. Stage 4-1 right before you get to the cinematic scene where you see the temple. There are 2 cheetahs that you can kill and respawn constantly. The best spot (so far) is in stage 5-1. Get to that first hippie and find a spot to where when he runs to you and kill him he instantly respawns and runs after you again. He's worth 500 points,so you can really rack up some points. And since he constantly runs towards you after respawning, all you have to do is just stand there and swing the sword. I think there may be a better point press in stage 6-3 with all the jumping snakes (also worth 500 points each), but I haven't exploited that area yet.

And btw, listening to Vomitron's covers of Ninja Gaiden stage music while playing is a MUST!

I haven't played it yet, but towards the end of each area would be best, or close to, because the timer resets. The only trick place would be level 5 and level 6 as I'm not sure exactly where the clock resets.

Ah, great. Thanks for the tip.

That makes a lot of sense. Run the clock down point raking right before you reach the trigger that resets the timer.

Now I need to identify where these triggers are located.

EDIT:

And thanks to you as well, guts, for those very specific tips. I feel my ninja spirit getting more powerful by the minute.

Before every boss door, and most places where there's a new screen/area in each level

Oh man, you guys are getting me pumped to try to get a decent score.

I feel like I'm still not going to be able to compete with the heavy hitters though. You guys are BEASTS.

I really enjoy participating in the weekly contest. Big thanks to Bimmy and everyone else who works on it. You guys kick ass.

EDIT: I enjoy The Minibosses' covers of the Ninja Gaiden music. I will check out Vomitron's too on your recommendation, guts.

No problem. The hippie point press is at the beginning of the stage, but I just press until time runs out. At least on my latest score I did. I wanted to see how many points I could get there. I screwed up a few times,so it wasn't perfect, but I got over 80,000 points in that spot. If I did it perfectly every time and not accidentally swing my sword too early several times and have to chase him down,I think I could potentially get close to 100k there. I really want to try to press at the end of stage 6-3. With all those snakes in that stage worth 500 points each,I think that area could be a goldmine.

I can listen to music at work all day long, so I often find myself listening to this album. I like the legend of zelda cover the best though.

The leaderboard has been updated and readjusted following the events of yesterday. Check it out to see where you now stand. Some people moved up several spots in the standings.

My NES collection count: 757 games (16 to go for a full set)

Latest Purchase(s): Snow Brothers

"Wait...Bimmy and Jimmy??  How'd they make a mistake like this!?  Bimmy isn't even a real name!"

I may re-try later on this week. I should've read earlier about point pressing, I just ran through each level.

As I kind of thought, stage 6-3 is a point press goldmine.I found 2 really great places to point press. The easy one first. This area right here. You can move back and forth on the platform killing the hippie on the right for 500 points and the bat on the left for 200.

Now for the tougher, more rewarding one, this area here. Getting the timing down is tricky (at least for me right now),but each snakeman gives you 500 points and if you stand (underneath) just before the edge of that 3rd platform, they will keep respawning after you kill them. Hope this helps someone out!

You need to respect bimmy's decision and quit posting in the contest threads. Further action will be taken if necessary.

I hate to see anyone kicked out of these competitions. Hopefully gnarl will be reinstated at some point in the future.
