Really hits you in the gut with that price....
I don't imagine it is much different but I can't back that opinion up with any facts due to what little is known.

Just search "Demons crest sample". You'll see the listing.

Well, look at another of his listing where he sells it and 5 other samples/protos together for a whopping 6500. At least one of them is already dumped/released and back when he tried to sell it alone, priced it at over 20 times what he got it for. Plus he's hipsilon2b, who has a small mention in the HOS.

For what it is worth, a JP Demon's Blazon/Crest prototype has definitely been dumped and can easily be downloaded. It has the same "sample" identifier on the title screen as this one. I would not be surprised at all if they are the same build (save for the language difference). It is comforting that he has relisted it so many times because it at least shows that with all the lunacy that happens on ebay, no one is dumb enough to buy that.

Nice bare mattress though.

Oh, MrPete1985, he does have board pics. 99% it is legit, but still.

Would asking where I would go to procure that file/image be breaking forum policies?

When it comes to buying prototypes, I tend to shy away from those located in Europe...who wants a PAL prototype, lol?

No idea if this one is PAL or not (I didn't look closely), but most of the PAL protos would surely just be samples / demos with minor (if any) changes from the final build.

Just search for Demon's Blazon prototype on Google and you should find it within the first few results.

Here's a photo from one of the Japanese ones. Not sure what the 16 means, but it could be a cartridge number identifier. There are several of these out there.

It's not PAL as PAL SNES games are shaped as JP SFC games.

I just played the Japanese Sample rom, and I like some of the neat things about it. Obviously, its a demo. And you start with all four crests. I imagine the NTSC sample is the exact same thing, so I don't see the harm in the guy raising funds to dump the ROM, secure his investment, and sell it off to a private collector or huge fan of the game.

Now there is a video I found on youtube showing footage of a Sample cart that while somewhat similar, is obviously different from the actual game or samples floating around.

Check it out.

Did you happen to notice any differences from the retail release beyond starting with the crests? I've never played or owned the retail release, only the prototype version. I've been curious to find out if it is an intentionally shortened version of the retail game for demonstration purposes, or one that is genuinely unfinished with things that were later changed for retail release.

Yes, it is shortened. The game stops at after the battle with Arma on stage IV.
Those who have played the retail release would say the first IV stages are the first half of the game. Though it is not natural to have the four crests, these are things that are earned, such as the Legendary Gargoyle. The video I posted is very different. I am going to play the rom again and look for more differences, but I really need to play it more thoroughly.

Password screen is locked. You can only enter or exit. You can't access any of the letters. Total bummer.

I would like to thank the users who PMed me regarding this topic. I am happy to see that some people have been more than willing to lend a helping hand to my research on a game that many of us all enjoyed when it was initially released.

Thank you all for being very supportive on this matter. I look forward to seeing what magic can be worked. Sites like TCF and Unseen 64 provide a great service to the community through people like us who voluntarily contribute information and go out of their way to dig into these games to find these marvels.

I can't thank you guys enough for your support.
