Monster Hunter World, Horizon Zero Dawn and Witcher 3 are all... "meeehhhh"?

I didn't enjoy them like I thought I would. Maybe I was relying on the hype, but this was way after it died down, and people still say that they were good, but I didn't like 'em much.

I won't lie I'm a HUGE SNES fan (most of my favorite, biased memories growing up), but the NES is starting to pull ahead just a tad for me in terms of utility. I love the SNES for a good portion of games, like a couple dozen - but the NES? Several dozens of faves. It's so universal and I feel it's actually aging better somehow.

The N64 is unplayable for me at this point.

GameCube MIGHT be Nintendo's most unique, innovative hour pre-Wii.

I don't think Sony or Microsoft have ever sold any of their consoles at a loss.

My unpopular opinion is the Wii is the best Nintendo console, once it's been softmodded.

- Hardware Wii and Gamecube software support
- RVL-001 model Wiis work with Gamecube discs, controllers and memory cards
- They're really cheap and plentiful
- Virtual Console and Wiiware (homebrew channel required now)
- Wiimote IR sensor makes lightgun games playable on HDTVs
- Super Smash Bros. Brawl has a massive and healthy modding scene, it's really the only customizable Smash game
- Homebrew Channel allows for loading Wii and Gamecube games from SD card and USB (even on the RVL-101 Wii and the Wii U)
- devolution Gamecube loader supports the GC broadband adapter using Wii Wi-Fi
- Homebrew emulator support for pre-NES systems, NES, SNES, SMS, Genesis, Sega CD, PS1, N64, Game Boy series and numerous other consoles and computers
- Wiimmfi allows for playing games online for free
- 11 solid years of software support between Gamecube and Wii

This is a really solid case for the Wii.  I'd also throw out that doesn't it have the largest library for a Nintendo system?  Maybe DS had more, the Switch probably will surpass both of em lol.

The Wii didn't have as much shovelware as people claim, and the PS2 and XBOX 360 were just as bad.

Oof now that’s controversial.

Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Bioshock, Half Life, Mass Effect, Last of Us, Deus Ex, Silent Hill, Xeno*, Chrono Trigger, Metal Gear, Resident Evil and yes Final Fantasy all have medium defining, S tier lore to them.

But I cant pick one “better” from the other. Let alone nail down a specific GOAT.

Yeah it's really good and one of, if not the best from the classic series. Most people overlook the GB games and IV is really good but V is just a great game all around

I will say the Last of Us gripped me in harder than almost any game ever has.  The sequel looks badass.

I've never cared for zombie stories in any medium, but that being said, I will have to check out some of these modern story vehicles that have come out. I hear the story in Uncharted is off the chain as well.

Looking forward to the FF 7 remake! It might actually get me to actually purchase a ps4 when it comes out.

People who think smb2 USA is the best of the three are in denial about the fact it’s only a smb game because of the title.

Doki doki evolved from a project tanebe worked on earlier that had no influence from Mario whatsoever.

I haven't finished it yet.... But I'm really not digging Chrono Trigger so far. I'm almost 7 hours in and I'm still waiting to be impressed by the "best RPG ever". Especially weird since I really like Super Nintendo and RPG is probably my favorite genre. The music is great, art is great, I like how combat takes place on the map instead of the traditional transition to combat scree, but the story just.... Hasn't really gone anywhere yet. I know it's a shorter RPG so I'm really hoping it grabs me soon. Hopefully my opinion changes by time I finish it!

The origin of design makes no difference to the resulting game.

The changes made to SMB2 from Doki Doki Panic make it superior to the original, anyway.

People who think that SMB2 is the best Mario game might prefer it _because_ it's "not a real Mario game." Maybe they don't like Mario games that much.

In 2011, [video game historian Chris Kohler] spoke to Tanabe, director of [Doki Doki Panic] and [Super Mario Bros. 2], at the Game Developers Conference ... Somehow, Kohler cornered the Nintendo veteran into an impromptu reveal: that Panic was itself based on a Mario prototype, the first time this was publicly discussed. [Kohler said,] "I had to drag that SMB2 conversation out of Tanabe, while the PR staff tried to get me back on topic."
—the book, Super Mario Bros. 2
Kohler is a member here. He could confirm.

Thank you. I will change my idea of smb2 USA.

I still wonder if tanebe gave the “Nintendo/miyamoti answer”.

nevertheless Tanebe said it. End of discussion.

I disagree.

It matters not as Tulpa has shown Tanebe said it was influence by a “Mario prototype”.
