Did anyone see the GG protos up on eBay last week?  One seller had about 15 although they removed the one I really wanted for an unreleased game, saying they decided to keep it.  I came in 2nd on 13 of them but did win 2 of them.  Pretty cool, I'm amazed at how big they are compared to normal carts for GG.  These two were the smaller ones, the protos for Star Wars and Desert Strike were about 4 times the size of these.  They looked crazy.

These two were about $45 each or so. I bid $40-50 on all the released ones or normal ones of this size and came in 2nd on all of them. HOwever there were 3 or 4 like Star Wars and Desert Strike that I bid $70 something on and I lost on those ones as well.

I wanted the "tradewest" one as I assume it was a Battletoads proto. Didn't end up putting much of snipe on it, so I'm curious if it was actually a BT proto.

Congrats on the pick ups Eric! Having an unreleased Game Gear game would have been Off the Wall...

I'd have to defer to DreamTR... I asked Wilson about GG protos last year in Portland and he said GG protos are rare to come by. If he sees this thread maybe Jason can help out here.

GG prototypes are easy to dump if you have an EPROM programmer.  Takes no more than a minute.

Yeah I lost on the Tradewest one as well, I came in 2nd on that one bid $69.99 it sold for $70.99. Ok wait you bastard... did you get the "Off the Wall" game they pulled? They told me the owner decided to keep it and they said he won't sell it unless you come back with a "Crazy offer like $150" so I said ok I offer $150 and they never got back to me. If you got it congrats, no hard feelings, but I did want it very much!

It's a long story. . .

I had been in contact with the "seller" (consignment shop owner/manager) since they began listing prototypes.  They're just down the road from me, so it made sense to talk to them directly.  We exchanged a ton of emails and about a dozen phone calls, and we discussed how they should list/bundle things as well as possible value on some beta stuff.  They asked me about the Xbox debug and I told them to bundle it with everything except Halo, and I think it sold really well as a result.

So, right as they were listing that bundle the seller sent me an email asking if there were any games that he was selling that I was particularly interested in.  I told him Off the Wall and the Tradewest demo (I did stress that I was more interested in OTW though).  The next morning I wake up and the listing was gone.  No email, no explanation, nothing.  I sent the seller a WTF email asking why they decided to pull the one game that I was interested in.  The seller told me that they were doing me a favor for all the help, and that I had an invoice waiting for me.  The invoice was insanely low.  I contacted the seller and told them, and we agreed on an increased the price.  Next day it's at my door.

I know this sounds shady and BS (which is why I didn't post anything), but I do have the messages saved to prove it.

Yeah, as Matt said, a bit of an interesting story. Here he is:

Not sure how to combine GG chips into a workable ROM, and my 2 POS GG's refuse to play it or any game, so I don't have much to report other than the pics.

Well I did send the seller an email asking WTF? But now that I hear the story it's all good. That's very cool what they did for you although they did piss me off by lying to me. Don't tell me they kept it just tell me the truth, I like the truthful story way better. If you decide to sell it boys let me know as I'm your buyer.

You want it?  It's yours! I just ask you this:

-  Can I keep the rom and have free reign to do as I please?
-  Can you sell it back to me if you decide to part with it?

That's really the only reason I wanted it in the first place.  I just don't want it wasting away in a closet.  I'm not a GG guy, just an proto nut.  I would rather it go to someone like you that appreciates it more than even I would.

Name your price in a PM and we'll go from there.

Edit: The last line makes me sound like a turd.  I'm just looking to get what I paid for it, not gouge you to death

I believe they are just the high and low sections of the ROM, so just combine them with a hex editor.  If that doesn't work, try combining them the other way
