Yo!

I've sold my fair share of Jarts over the years.  Yeah, they're outlawed.  But yeah: they still sell.  I have a stand-by buyer for ANY set I find, really, which is pretty sweet.

Yesterday I found this set of Regent Master Jarts, mint-in-box.  I look online for this set and the ONLY ones I can find for sale are $2,000 FIRM.

So I have that buyer, and he wants me to send him a price.  I think the above mentioned price is INSANE.  Most boxed sets are $75-$125.

Anybody know anything about this set???????  What should I ask for?  Dude's got money, and he either collects (like he says) Jarts or he just resells them.  I don't wanna give them to him for $150 only to find out he's flipping them for 4-figures.  I'm thinking of starting around $250 but again, that could be way under-value.  I'm not sure...

If you know anything about Jarts - holla!  Thanks

I have a boxed set of lawn darts that I have had forever, I really should try to sell those things.

Have you looked to see if there is some sort of jart forum for more info maybe?

This is probably the best place to price them out, sort of: http://www.lawndartparts.com/...

I talked to this guy years ago to try to sell him my horde (I had 4 or 5 boxed sets) but he seemed like an amateur schmuck and wanted to "buy my sets over time". Imagine if you were trying to sell your NES collection for $2 per cart and I wanted to "buy it over time"... yeah, we didn't do business.

Anyway, regular Jarts-brand Jarts, boxed and close to mint are like $75-125. Example: http://www.bst.com/256FBX...

The reason I'm taking this sale so seriously are these posts:

http://blujay.com/?page=ad&adid=3...
http://www.bst.com/256MRX...
http://www.sell.com/256MRX...

That's clearly the same dude.

And if you scroll down on this awesome site:
http://www.jarts-lawndarts.com/PI...
It even says "rare set" on THIS page, which is LOADED with different sets. I didn't see one other set that said "rare".

I know this is "Jarts overload" for most of you but hey - all of us are always looking for games so I'm sure some of you will realize you're now staring down $75+ items, typically for $10 or less.

If anybody knows of better sources, lay them on me. I want to get back to this guy but really want to get my bearings straight. Why is this "$2000 FIRM". Is he serious? How FIRM can you be with that? I was thinking $250 would even be sweet but oviously I'l take what I can get...

Thanks dudes. Happy Jart hunting!

^^ Thanks, Dexter!

Robbie, do you have these ones?  Or  the actual "Jarts" brand?  Seems like the collectors really like the Regents.  I'm still learning... it's a weird scene.  Hell, they're BANNED, lol.

Haha, you should see my conversation with my normal Jarts buyer.  He sounds like one of us waiting to hear back from a local guy with a Stadium Events...  I can hear the mental-collector-boner in his tone... he won't make an offer to me, either, he wants me to hit him with a number and then go from there.  lol this is crazy!

The best is drunkenly tossing jarts from the back of a 3-wheeler your friend is driving!

Actually, I've met guys who said they used to play with these OVER THEIR HOUSE. Each team stood on a different side of the house.. yeah.

Not much help. They are rare and in good condition.

"thanks for the reply.

The only reason they are more rare is because the are a complete set of master jarts. They are harder to come by that a typical set of lawn darts, or jarts. also the are in very good condition."

I've learned more about lawn darts on this site than any other I frequent. I know there are some other that have inquired about them in the past, I'll see if I can dig up the threads with the search function...

Edit:  Got it!

http://www.nintendoage.com/forum/...

Maybe someone from that thread can help.

I wrote that guy yesterday as well and got a much more thorough reply:

""I have never seen jarts go for this amount either. I have also never sold a set of lawn darts for more than $200. some people do not know the value of a dollar, or they have to many dollars. I'm looking for that person. Master jarts are harder to come by, and I'm not looking to sell them. but if I were to part with them this is the price I would let them go for. I usually by sets of lawn darts of anywhere from 5 dollars to 50 dollars. I pay cash and usually pick up.

I hope this information is helpful to you.""

He also left his name and number! I have no idea why we got such different responses.

So I told my "buyer" dude $200 a half hour ago - we'll see what he says!

hey, I went back in touch with the guy who held the estate sale. He didn't sell the jarts there so I paid $10 for em. I'll post a pic. Do you know how much these things usually go for?

Also, does anyone have some good jart stories that involve impalement?

Here is what I have. Show them to him and see what he thinks. If he offers a fair amount, they are sold, but I have been wanting to play them. (And I'll ping ya some cash).

^^^^^^Wow. This must be an older set, looks like from the 60's based on the style of the box. Plus it also says that "It's a game for the whole family." This must have been before stupid kids started impaling themselves with these things.

I have a set in the original box, and based on the style, it looks like it's from the 70's. And it clearly states that it is a game for "adults only" and should be kept out of the reach of children.

Wow....that is a neat observation. I would have never known that. I guess these WERE made before the banning. Neat stuff!

This is the exact set I once had 5 of, and sold to this buyer I have.  He would pay up to $75 for those, but maybe just a little less because of the staining inside.  Are those punctures or just stains?  Based on our previous transactions I could see him saying "$60" on that set, but possibly as much as $75

Also, though they might be from the 60's, they are most likely from the 70's.  I don't know when the game was invented but one of the Jarts brand sets like that that I had had an actual shipping label on the front to a store here in Pittsburgh, PA and it had a date of xx/xx/1978 on them, so I know for a fact that style box was used then.

The game wasn't banned in the States until 1988 and considering the only Jarts brand box you see is that one, I take it they never changed it.

Back to my story - I said $200, he said $100, I tried for $120, he is stuck at $100.  Unless I can talk Mr. $2000 Master Jarts into buying my set for $150 or something - "Dude, you'll have the only two Master Jarts sets anyone knows about!!", I'm probably taking the $100 I suppose.

PM me if you want me to try to sell those to him for you.  I hafta crank my sale out first but I KNOW he is just reselling the damn things!  I sold him 5 sets and my friend sold him 1 earlier this year.  He can't possibly be using them all!!

^^^^I have another set of jarts and they are in a totally different box. Like I said, it says for adults only, and has the warning saying: "Can cause serious or fatal injury."

Also, the ones pictured here have metal tips at the ends. Mine are blunt on the end.

Anyway, here's a picture of the set I have. (note: not my pic, taken from elsewhere on the web)

^^ Are they "sliders"? Some of these guys love the Regent Sliders. Actually - I think they are! See how the fins are touching the metal part? They "slide" down once they hit the ground.

It's weird that the the Regent brand used the word Jarts, when there is another brand called Jarts. Seems like lawsuit-city these days.. not that I could tell you who came first.

Yes, the ones I have are Regent Sliders, exactly the same as these.

If you're willing, could you hook me up with the guys who are buying these things? I'll take my own pics and see if they wanna make a deal. I really don't know how much these things should go for, but I poked around on the web and saw they can go from $20-$100 for a set like this.

Anyway, PM me if interested..........

That's nuts he buys a set for $75, but sells the flags for $25-50 each.

I found a set a few years back at a flee market boxed for $5 or $10 and I couldn't sell them. Ebay won't let you and while I saw some other listings of other people trying to sell and some with high prices I couldn't find any buyers. I ended using them at a family party. The plastic just shattered on all the darts before the day was out. We junked the leftover parts.
