I went in to town today  i stopped by the local antique/ retro game store.  this guy had 5 nes action sets  but only there boxes  then i saw the sega cd and sports set. i asked how much he wanted so  he said 85 for the sega cd and 150 for the nes sports set.

At first i didnt think too much of it.  but then he said they both have all there plastic and manuals and look as if there were never played.  so that intrest me.  i look up the sega cd on ebay from my phone and found that he had it way under priced.  there were priced between 200 and 450  (450 for the one like mine)  the sports set was 175 to 225. none of the sports set on ebay has their plastic bags or twist ties. so im sure mine is worth more.  also ive never smelled a new nes but this one smelled brand new and didnt have one scratch on it.  same for the sega   the nes i had to repackage the box (wearing gloves so not to disturb its luster) so the styro foam lid would fit properly.

I have a small storie  for each of these consoles  the sega cd was given to the first owner as a christmas gift  he opened it played it once put it back in its box and never touched it again till many years later he sold it in a yard sale.

the nes belonged to a collector like me but needed money.  Aparently when he sold it to the store owner he was almost in tears cause he didnt want to sell it.  the store owner told me that he would be glad its going to a good home.

Dang! Sad story for the sports set, but super nice find for you! I feel like if I needed money, I wouldn't go to a store like that to sell it because if it was priced at $150, I can only imagine what the collector settled for, but to each his own!

nice. I swear out of all the standard NES system boxes the sports set is the least common. I see challenge, control deck, deluxe set, power set, and action set  way more often.

i think he sold it to me for the same price that he bought it off the guy. it was originally 175,  he cut it to 150 and said ill just break even with you.  (becoming friends with people like these guys is mandatory lol)

Or, you know, you're not friends and he was BS'ing you. I don't think he paid $150 to sell it for $175.
