In the end it's just a cardboard box and a cheap figure, right? Give the guy at least a tiny bit of credit and stop being so petty

How is he being petty?  I think you need to step back and maybe not post on things you have no idea about.

Also you all need to realized that this sort of shit opens doors to scammers trying to push fake boxes already and now the possibility that fake figures are going to pop up.

It is already hard enough to collect this stuff anymore as reproductions on boxes, carts and other stuff is comming more common, I think Jone is totally in the right calling this out rather the OP did it or he got taken on a scam ride.

We all know the proper figure is the Warrior untill a legit sealed copy comes through here to tell us otherwise.

no need to get all butthurt. I read the topic, I know about the game, so I think I have some sort of idea on what's going on. I didn't say jkenned5's copy was legit, but he obviously doesn't have a repro box, or a repro figure. He has a box, and he has a figure. Whether they go together or not, we don't know. (they probably don't, I don't care either way)

How is he being petty? "I was the first to land a copy.", "My listing caused a second one to surface", "you should be thanking me for raising awareness", and the overall 'I'm right - you're wrong' attitude along with "I'd bet my whole N64 collection on it", and "this thread is a joke"...
but hey, he has a rare CIB that most of us don't, so I'll shut up and not post on things I have no idea about.

Maybe if you knew more about the situation you wouldn't be so quick to pass judgement. Funny how several more have surfaced since this thread, and every single one has had the Warrior, except the one in this thread of course. I'll leave it to you to connect the dots but I'm not adamant in topics unless I know what I'm talking about.

I know plenty about the situation. If you want to be a pompous elitist, go for it, I don't care. You're right, everything I said is wrong. now go have fun with your game and your little pewter figure

Until all the data is retrieved, authenticity can only be hypothesized and therefore judgement should be reserved.

It's honestly best to probably keep an open mind about this, regardless of how unlikely it may seem. Two more popped up recently on eBay, and they both had warriors, so yeah, it probably never came with a wizard, but you never know I suppose. Really though, at this point, more warriors have turned up than wizards, so isn't there the possibility that the wizard is worth more than the warrior anyway?

Granted the wizard didn't come in a variant box, but I haven't seen a single other pewter figurine turn up, but I've seen like almost a half a dozen pewter warriors now. So for all we know, someone could throw up any of the other gauntlet pewter figurines on eBay and they may sell for just as much, if not more.

You never know.

EDIT: For future reference, I know that the worth of the pewter figurine has nothing to do with this. I will say though that if everyone is so terrified of people piecing them together with other pewter figurines in order to sell them for the big bucks, then people need to think about the fact that those other pewter figurines may be worth more than the warrior figurine in the first place. True, they wont be legit CIB copies, but we wont know what legit 100% is until we find a sealed copy. Being 99.9999% sure isn't good enough.

I do think that no one should call there's CIB though if it doesn't have the warrior figurine with it, since that one does have the most proof backing it up and being the only figurine to be included. I'll most likely be on the fence until we find a sealed copy.

Well let me say this, there is no definitive proof either way right now. We don't have a Midway stamped letter saying "Only the Warrior came with the N64" version.

However, what we do know, is that the two that have surfaced through legitimate means (i.e. sold 100% complete and not pieced together), both had the Warrior.

We also know that there was a mail away offer with the PS1 / Dreamcast version of the game, that would let you obtain some figurines:

The current theory is that the Warrior is the N64 exclusive. Over time, I believe this will be proven as the Warrior should surface to the top in terms of rarity. I've already seen sets sold or pics of sets missing the Warrior.

People can form whatever opinion they like, but one collector showing a loose figurine with a box (after many loose figurines were sold / talked about over the past weeks) doesn't prove anything. Especially with the tray missing. The tray is either missing because someone pieced it together, or simply because it doesn't even fit in the first place.

I bought the game new on N64 and got the Warrior which I still have btw. I will have to see if I can dig it out as I didn't realize it was that rare. I do remember at the store only seeing Warriors but then again back then I would have chose the Warrior anyways.

Found it really fast! It was sitting in the bottom of a box that I had all my old random action figures in. The only thing I don't have is the original box as I never held onto those.

So I guess there are now 3 confirmed warriors! haha

I hope to get one of them eventually. Paying $100 for a tiny little figure seems outlandish to me still though. Meh, we are collectors after all

Recently the warrior and wizard figurines were up on eBay for auction. The Warrior went for around $80 and the Wizard went for around $100, so it doesn't look like it even matters if someone pieces these together anymore, there's too many warriors figurines out there for them to even hold their value anymore. A strong case of the alternative being worth more than what actually comes in the box, interesting. There are officially less of each Dreamcast figurine than there are of the N64 warrior figurines.

The wizard figure is not related to this box at all, let's not open that can of worms again.  The warrior figure is the one that came with the N64 game.

Are there examples of the other two figures from the game?
