There Have been plenty of valentines days that I (and I am sure others) just use as an excuse to do something nice.  Homemade card, and a nice dinner cooked especially for her.  I didn't buy into any capitalistic powerhouses yadda yadda yadda.  If you are reading into it more than that, than you are missing the idea entirely.

I am on the same line as magus90 on the bit that most girls indeed to like and seem to appreciate homemade things more than store bought (exempting chocolates) as regardless of talent/mad skills it's unique and pretty much priceless in the end. I also enjoy them in return.
