Are there any sayings or quotes you live by?

My favourite is, "The wolf climbing the hill is always hungrier than the one on top". Whats funny is that line came from commentary of Hall of Famer Jessie Ventura.
Are there any that you use a lot or live life by? Would be good to hear others.

I am a fan of the Japanese Proverb (excuse my butchering) I no naka no kawazu taikai o shirazu - roughly translated to something like...A frog in a well does not know of the great sea.

This could be interpreted in a few different ways, but my broad application of this is always remembering that your own experiences and those limitations, directly affect and frame your outlook and perspective. I think of this for myself but also for other people, knowing that for many their world-view might be limited in scope. Also a sort of reminder to continually broaden your horizons and try to learn more and expand your perspective. The interesting thing about this in modern application, is that we have so many tools now, and ways to learn about other places, other viewpoints, other cultures, whereas in the past we were so limited geographically and physically. I guess....having an open mind and continually challenging yourself to learn and expand your experiences.

EDIT:  I thought of another, haha, which is from Dr. Seuss:

"You have brains in your head.  You have feet in your shoes.  You can steer yourself any direction you choose.  You're on your own.  And you know what you know.  And YOU are the one who'll decide where to go"

It's good to learn from your mistakes, it's better to learn from other people's mistakes.
If opportunity doesn't knock, build a door.
If you never fail you're not pushing yourself to your limits.

Trying is the first step toward failure.

Weaseling out way out of things is what separates us from the animals...... except for the weasel.

Just because I don't care, doesn't mean I don't understand.

Maybe, just once, someone will call me "sir" without adding, "you're making a scene."

This is the one I actually would have used if someone didn't beat me to it.

"I have a theory that everyone is an idiot, including me. That's my basic theory of all Humanity. The only thing that is different is that we're idiots at different things at different times. So, I think the main thing is that as long as everyone thinks that they're the smart one and everyone else is an idiot...not realizing that sometimes they're the idiot and the other person's the smart one...that's the basic tension in life." - Scott Adams
