I used to own one of these:

https://books.google.com/books?id=hf4DAAAAMBAJ&pg=PA103&...

The movement of the chair acted as the D-Pad.  You pressed your legs against the stationary foot pads and the chair would rock back with resistance, somewhat like a rowing machine.  Though I think you pulled in with your arms and abs to advance forward.  I remember it making a satisfying click sound when you activated a D-Pad direction button.  The remaining buttons were on the stationary arms.

I had the SNES version and the manual recommend racing games like Top Gear.

It was almost impossible to control games using the device.  Aside from the fact that you could not react quickly, you quickly got exhausted trying even when you cranked down the resistance level.

I've never seen one show up on eBay or on this forum before, hence this post.  Does anyone have one in their collection?  My family got rid of ours around 2000.  I think we tried selling it in yardsales a few times.  After no buyers, we just dragged it out to the trash.  It was using up a ton of space and this was well before the age of retrocollecting.

Cool item! Haven't seen that before. NordicTrack also released another peripheral for the SNES & Genesis, see attached.

I've seen these in the wild, but there's usually a large silicone schlong mounted on the front.

Not quite up there with the Life Cycles, but not bad!... BTW I mean not bad as an interesting game peripheral, obviously terribly bad as an actual product to use, lol!

$400? They couldn't have sold many of them. It would be neat to see someone try it out, though.

That's around $675 in today's dollars.  It also came out late in the SNES/Genesis life cycle, about a year before the N64 released; so, it probably wasn't marketed for very long.

I only started thinking about this device again after seeing

.  He didn't mention it.  It's a forgotten peripheral.  But it was a part of my gaming experience during the great console wars of the 90's!

Yup, I saw that video recently and I was thinking this would be another fun thing for him to try out on camera.

For those of you who want to see this in action, your wish is my command. I'm the one that found this and posted the pictures about it on sega-16.com it took me long enough but I made a YouTube video about it showing how it works and I plan to make another one actually using it hooked up to a system.
