Ballsy move, I hope you end up making back near what you paid for it. Good luck!

WOW. I think you are insane for selling it like this! It might take longer via a private deal but I think you would make several thousand more that way, plus a whole lot less fees. Good luck to you sir, very ballsy move!

Retrozone produces readily available reproductions that are VERY nice.

I would have listed it with a high BIN with a best offer option. when selling things like this it can take time for a buyer to come up with the funds. You're pretty much gambling that a buyer will 1) see this auction during it's relativly short listing and 2) will have the money on hand right now.

Selling my NWC gold was a long process of weeding out real buyers from junk, and coming to a terms of sale.

One way or not this will sell now, but probably at a lower price than if you negotiated a private sale.

I also think the bidding is ballsy and wouldn't do it, but I would not set a high BIN with a best offer. More times than not, people just don't make an offer. I have a lot of 12 Final Fantasy VII games up right now for resellers and no offers and doubt I will get one unless it is someone from here because of this post. Granted, I'm sure JJ doesn't want to lose money, but if he has the cash to spend in the first place on this, then you can bet he isn't really worried about getting the 14K back.

Yeah it would be a shame if someone from here doesnt win it. It may be lost forever. But knowing the guys on here, im sure they won't let it go.

I was just wondering.  Have you gotten any emails from people saying that its fake or laughing at you.  I can see people doing crap like that if they dont know what it is.  Cuz really the campus challenge really isnt that well known compared to NWC.

I didn't see this until after you were outbid.  I couldn't end it for you

I hope someone on NA wins too but the owner of the 92 Campus Challenge and 94 Powerfest told me he is going to be bidding too.  He might be willing to pay a pretty penny to have all 3 of those games.

Also, I added an option for an installment payment if people don't have all the money upfront.  You can pay over 3-4 months and I will ship the item after the final payment.  I figured this might help some people out.

Excellent idea and definitely something that should open the door to some bidders.

I would assume so, after all when using the game genie with NES games they all stuck out a bit.

Wierd, Is there a reason you do not accept paypal? That's the number 1 used payment on ebay.

^ He's already paying escrow fees, I can only assume he accepts whatever the escrow company does as a method of payment. Or, if the person wants to get on a plane, cash is always good

I am not accepting paypal for this auction for two reasons.
1. I don't want to pay paypal fees (escrow is cheaper for high value items)
2. I want to avoid fraudulent payments.  Credit card fraud is too much of a problem with paypal but is not an issue with escrow services.

And as dangevin said, I'm paying the fees so there isn't any extra cost to the winner.

I wrote most of that Wiki article from the information I could piece together about the two events in 91 and 92.

Is there some information that is wrong?  I know there is more information I could add but I couldn't find a good source for it.  I definitely want to make that article better though.

Ok. Nice article, but as for the SNES CC-carts, two exist. The one mentioned in the wiki article should be one of the carts that were used in the competition between japaneese and american finalists. This one has the text "Nintendo Challenge" on the title screen. The other one is in my possession and it has a title screen saying "1992 Campus Challenge". This one was also used in the finals of a competition held here in Sweden, called "Nintendo On Tour '92". This is probably the reason the cart survived, instead of being sent back to NOA (or wherever it came from) and destroyed it was lent to the swedish competition after the CC.

On the snesmaps site (linked in the wiki) you can read the following:

"The name of this event was the 1992 Campus Challenge. There are two versions of this cart. One in Super Famicom Format with the generic title screen of "1992 Nintendo Challenge" and one in the Super Nintendo Format with the "1992 Campus Challenge" title screen. Only one of each version exists today. Other then the different title screens the games are exactly the same. All they did was switch out the chip for the title screen. The game chips are the same ones that were used in the 1992 Campus Challenge.

I bought this game from Jollerancher who bought it at a garage sale of an employee of Nintendo. Jollerancher said "He (The Nintendo Employee) told me that the Super Famicom cart was used for a one time competition between two U.S. and two players from Japan. The U.S. players sat in a room while the Japanese players I think he said played in a stadium with thousands of people watching." Not much else is know about this competition. If anyone knows more about it please e-mail me and I will place it up on this site, or place a link to the information if it is on another site."

I bought my cart for 460 SEK or something (at that time ~61 USD) from the swedish auction site "Tradera". This was about a year before the jollerancher finds. The cart was poorly listed and the seller did not really know what it was (and no one else for that matter) except that there were multiple games on it.

So to sum things up, there are two (different) carts from the 1992 competitions.

Shrimp - Thanks for that info.  I will definitely make that change to the wiki article about the 92 cart.

Can you PM me with some more information like a picture or something like that?  I would love to see the difference between the two.  Plus anymore information you had about where the person selling it on "Tradera" original found it.  Thanks
