sure it would, with the other auctions and you selling the other 9 gba boxed versions and my upfront purchase you would be more than able to get cart only presses with no problem. or at least let me buy a box

I watched a youtube video where someone tore apart the quality of the red carts. Did these turn out better? Also, patiently waiting for the auction.

Absolutely better quality. I had disclaimers for the red cart quality so that's just someone being over dramatic.

My copy came in today, and I must say that I'm more than sorely disappointed with the quality of the build. For me, the appeal of a reproduction cartridge is for the game to be playable on the original system, rather than to display in a collection.

I'll add photos later, when I have access, but the cartridge is bent, doesn't stay closed, and doesn't even fit all the way into any of my gameboy systems. Granted, this was the risk I took when I auctioned, yes, and I did see how the quality of the red versions turned out. Having to "force it in" and out of my system is frankly not what I was expecting.

How are you other buyers faring?

Cartridge is bent? I don't know what you mean by that. I tested each cartridge in my GBA SP and they all fit in all the way and worked in my system flawlessly with barely any force required. Are you using a non-traditional system? i know with the NDS lite no gba cartridges go in all the way even official releases.

I would have preferred a PM instead of putting me on blast without details. I guess some people just don't have a clue what goes in to a custom reproduction run where parts and boards aren't readily available.

I use GBA SP -- the AGS-101 model. You're right that I don't know what it's like to make GBA reproductions, especially because very few have been successful at it. However, I have made my own Starfox 2 SNES cart and have worked with others on various other reproduction projects.

Primarily, there is superglue all over this thing. It is underneath the circuit board, making it far from flush with the plastic case. The casing also doesn't enclose the battery properly, so instead rests on top of it, deforming the case and making it too large to fit comfortably at all in any GBA system that I have. This is likely what is causing the need to force it in, yes.

The main reason that I posted this publicly was to inquire if the others were experiencing similar things -- it is possible that some aspect of the shipping and handling process rattled things around, etc..

I don't think you get it guy. The board used in these isn't a normal board and HAD to be glued in place and the battery is slightly bigger. I don't have $10,000 to do my own run of gba cartridges (which others have already done for nes and snes with parts readily available) so instead I went the route of getting what is available and modifying that to look as close to the original as possible. It's not perfect but it works and everyone else but you has told me it works and looks  great. Anyone who has had an issue with something has gotten it fixed, such as a save malfunction.

The other thing is you obviously busted the cartridge open which I had sealed shut with glue and clamped it shut for a few days to make the cartridge not bow out as much and be as flesh as possible. Tearing it up is your poragative but the game cart is obviously going to look like crap and be all warped after you busted and pried it apart.

Posting this on an open forum instead of sending me a PM is a complete newbie thing to do and is why most members on NA refuse to deal with members with no transactions. Consider my lesson learned and this situation here really shows how unappreciative some people are and really makes me not want to invest the time and money to bother with a full run.

I got my copy and it has oil leaking out of it, rental stickers all over it, and what I think appears to be hamster bite marks on the edges. Absolutely horrendous.

Or I am just jealous I couldn't afford one... ;D

I worked with Jeff on a few projects. I did some custom work for him so he sent me a copy of M3. I also purchase a big box from him. Both carts worked flawlessly and looked good too. I lent one to my brother and he had no issues at all.

So no, I am not experiencing the same thing. It is to my understanding that what Jeff did was fairly difficult to do as well. If you're unhappy with the product, I have no doubt that you would have any trouble selling this (for a profit too).

Anyway, I do appreciate all the work that you've put into this, subcon. And I am glad that the others are doing well/looking well/working well!

Like I said, I understood the risk when auctioning, and if anything, this gives me another project opportunity to make it fit into the shell better. And no, I hadn't busted it open, but I'm considering it just to see what the board looks like -- I know that I couldn't have made a custom board for anything.

Mine is a tight fit into the system, but I think it will loosen in time as the cart wears down. Even though it is a tight fit, I still love it! It works perfectly and I love the box art! Thanks Subcon!

Edit:  Also, just tested out the saving and it works too.

That's good on the saving. That is one thing that happened to one guy is that the battery came loose during shipping.

Attn: thesubcon3

Just wanted to publicly apologize for coming across sourly before and also thank you for the work on particularly the board for the game.

I opened up your cartridge to take a gander at the insides and found that 1) the cause of my problems was in the casing only -- likely some kind of handling damage, and 2) I was baffled and impressed by the circuitry work (or: the board looks great, dude). What I ended up doing was grab the shell from an old sports game and custom drill it to house your circuit board (I can see why you might've run into difficulties putting all of these together, geez). After getting it all together, I plugged it into my SP and got it all working great -- it saves just fine and everything (something I was worried about after handling the board myself).

Attached is first, a photo of the bottom of the cart as I'd received it -- you can see where it bends upward on the right side, where the casing was coming apart completely.

The next few photos are how it looks now that I've put it all back together... since I don't have any real photo editing skills, my makeshift label isn't currently as fancy as yours.

I think it actually hasn't really begun yet...just the LE stuff was auctioned off, no public mass release yet that I know of.
