Going forward the competition will have two games running at a time.  They are separate leaderboards, with their own points awarded.  You can compete in one or the other, or both.

This appears to trip people up so I'm posting it again:  If you post an updated score please re-use your original post, or create a new one and remove your old score.  That will make my life easier sorting things out.

March Game #1: Donkey Kong Country
Rules
  • Goal -> Completion %
  • Tiebreaker -> Low time
  • Bonus Point -> 101% in under 60 minutes
  • You are allowed as many tries and saves as you need
March Game #2: Kirby's Dream Course
Rules

  • Goal -> Courses cleared
  • Tiebreaker -> Low strokes
  • Bonus Point -> Obtain all Gold Medals
  • Choose 1Play Game
  • Create a new member
  • You are allowed as many tries as you need
  • You can re-try courses to improve your scores
  • Take a picture of the ranking screen for each course you are able to clear
  • The Special Courses unlocked by earning all golds are not in scope of this contest

Thanks for writing. I apologize for the delay in responding to your email during this busy time of year.
In regard to your email, it is great to hear that you have found a copy of Perfect Dark for the Nintendo 64. Perfect dark was a first person shooter game that was released in May of 2000. I personally enjoyed this game a lot during my mid-teen years since it allows for up to four players to play at one time. All the Perfect Dark cartridges were black.

I hope this information is what you are looking for.

-Response I received from Nintendo customer support when I asked if they knew any thing about a black Perfect Dark cart.

I think DKC is doable in 60 minutes for non-rdrunner mortals.  If that's way off base, I can add a little more leeway.  I want it to be hard.

DKC is my jam! I will definitely be competing this month as well! Kirby's Dream Course I only tried once but sucked at it so who knows how that will go. Worth a shot though!

Kirby's Dream Course: Course 1 - 32



​Well, didn't get much time to devote to these games this month with all the other drama to contend with. Such is life.

​Could have done much better on DKC but I was trying a new emulator (Higan) and had a horrible experience with it. For reasons yet beyond me, I was getting horrible framerate drops and occasional input lag.

​Kirby's Dream Course really surprised me with how much fun it is. I have never been one for "golf" games (or most sports games for that matter) but there's something very charming about Dream Course. It requires a lot of practice and familiarity that I didn't have the time to develop but I can tell the game will get pretty remarkable once I get to that level. I actually made it through the end of Course 2 but missed my chance to snap a pic and couldn't figure out how to get back to the score screen after that. I will end up spending more time exploring this game. A real gem that totally flew over my head all these years.

Pretty sure I'm not going to complete this in an hour or close to 100%, but I'm having a good time. Finally made it past Mine Cart Madness and Stop & Go, and was able to save my game again.

Slipside Ride can go fuck itself. Seriously.

EDIT: Fuck this entire ice themed world. You have to get through a ridiculous gauntlet of levels before you can even save your game again!

Ugh. There is some evil, evil platforming with the save spots spread far apart later in DKC. It's tougher than I remembered.

I consider myself pretty good at dkc. I never have to worry about lives . I always have like  60+.

i think maybe i could beat the game straight through if i didnt die in under an hour, but 100 percent is something else. Just beat the game last night casually. And was closer to 2 hours than 1. And i wasnt close to 100 percent

Now I'm at Kremkroc Industries.

I don't plan on beating this 100%. It's not going to happen.

Hey guys, looking for suggestions - I don't have soldering tools or anything like that, just the bit for removing the screws on cartridges. Apparently though I need a lot more than that to replace the battery in my DKC cart. Do stores typically offer battery replacement services? Or is there some other way for me to do it myself? I'd like to avoid playing on an emulator if I can, and would certainly rather not have to buy a whole new cart just because the battery died, that seems dumb.

Alternatively, should I buy a soldering iron? I'm not sure how expensive they are, and have no experience with them. Not sure how costly and/or difficult this is.

One thing I'm considering is that my DKC2 ALSO needs a new battery, so I'm actually leaning towards soldering iron. I've always been interested in that stuff... I dunno though. It's all so sudden and unexpected lol.
