I don't think that's possible with the way private topics are handled. The only way I can think of that would make it possible is to have an offsite log somewhere that requires new usernames and passwords, or if Dain added the feature into the site. I don't see it being hosted offsite being a good method, unfortunately.

There's no reason TENGEN can't be added to the private topic group if everyone is OK with it. It wouldn't be public but I think what he wants is more for him to be able to read it than for it to be truly public

Also, in the next game I'll make a Private Topic for the dead players. Also, both the Koopas and the Toad masons used Private topcis for their secret discussions. Next game I might standardize that and make all out-of-thread discussions happen in private topics. It allows me to see what everyone is thinking as the game progresses.
Looks like it's going to happen for the next game.

yes, that's right.

It could either be done all names in advance, or people added as they die, either is possible

I'll just add the dead players as they die. Also, I'd make it so that any non players who wish to be a part of that private thread could simply PM me and request to be added.

I thought about adding dead players to our private thread, but Kokiri had no way to make sure that people weren't pming players that were still active, so I decided against it. I had a list of who I thought was what and I didn't want any advantages given after I got lynched.

It came down to the last vote. I'll take that.

Also, I almost claimed I was King Boo. Tengen, if I had said that, and claimed that my special was the ability to block via 3 scares, would you have outed me?

My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Ferris pass out at the Let's Play Gaming Expo last night. I guess it's pretty serious.

Oh, my WTB thread is very popular. The sportos, the motorheads, geeks, sluts, bloods, wastoids, dweebies, Richard craniums - they all adore it. They think it's a righteous thread.
I'd also like to add that I've got my father's gun and a *scorching* price guide for aftermarket Nintendo games.
Between Dragon Warriors and nothing... I'll take Dragon Warriors - for any of my FT/FS/FO items.

Hell no. I would have marked you as a wolf and let you get caught...or kill you myself eventually. Or, perhaps wait until some suspicion arose and then bust out that I was actually King Boo - but how would I prove it? It might have gotten me voted out. 

I think I would have just laid low while you did your thing, peppering the thread with doubts of your credibilty, so when it came time for me to kill you everyone would see you were lying. Then I gain instant cred as having doubted you (a wolf) the whole time.

That would have been interesting.

Sure live players could break the rules. The game itself is an honor system. I would hope no one here would do that but who would know. You get caught doing that and no one will want to play with you ever again.

Live players could pm each other against the rules as well. If you players were used to talking via PM either wolves or neighbors you would need to remind them that PMing those players was now a big no no.

As I was scrambling for ideas of how to save my ass, I almost posted:

"Generic just PM'd me a taunt along the lines of "You're doing a shitty job trying to catch me, I'm going to win this thing." What should I do? Can I post that PM here?"

But I ended up thinking it was a pretty underhanded way to win - even if I was an evil dude.

You thought I was mad at KHAN for accusing me of being a wolf/vigilante, that might have just pushed me over the edge! lol But really, that would have been hilarious. I don't know if that would have been against the rules. As long as you didn't "verbatim quote" anything then I think you could have made up anything and posted it.
But a PM quote could be considered a verbatim quote....I don't know....

That, and Dain could be called in to investigate your PM's and his to find out if you're lying or not, which wouldn't be in your best interest

That wouldn't have helped. You say that and the game stops. It would have been investigated by the mod and if true he would have been modkilled. If not true you would be hung for making it obvious.

Haha never! It was really fun. I had a feeling that buyatari2 might go along with the "Generic is suspicious dude" deal. Those last couple of days I almost lost my head. I wish that Br81zad would have made a better defense but in a way it was a "damned if you do and damned if you don't" because people thought that I was suspicious for how much I defended myself. Definitely a crazy game.

Pretty easy to setup an afterlife topic then just send the link to dead players as they die.  Just don't share the link with too many non-players because you might want them to sub in if needed.  You can also set up seperate wolf and mason topics to keep them from being a clusterfu(k of pm's.

So, what I'm getting so far is: 
  • Make a seperate private topic for dead/non- players. 
  • Shorten game nights
  • Tweak the double posting rule
  • More Vote Counts (and more detailed)
Anything else? What did you guys like that I should do more of next game? How did you feel the roles were, including the ratios, diversity, alignments, etc? Was the fact that I made an original role (the Trap Master) a good thing?

I was additionally given an idea by our loyal watcher dra600n to impliment additional goals into the game. I also was thinking of potentially creating several "tribes" or "factions" that would be seperate from alignment. In fact, several members of different alignments would probably be grouped together. I'm not sure if they would have powers, or simply be able to discuss things privately. 

^^ These were just several ideas that I was given and/or came up with. While they could definately make for an awesome game, I am warry to further complicate the rules until a couple games are under everyone's belts. I am curious on your guys thoughts.

I actually think the no double posting rule should stay. I know there were many times I had an anxious moment after I had posted something and couldn't post again to clarify, but to me that's part of the fun. You have to get shit right the first time

Agreed. I think I double posted once to clarify something or add in something I forgot.. but I think the no double posting rule adds a certain element to the game. I didn't mind potentially getting a warning for it, but no way I was going to risk a modkill by double posting anymore. Not that I survived for much longer anyway

This is only my first game, but it seems like removing that would take away from the experience.
