This was a fun week. I lurked this thread for the running commentary and the pro tips but I have a lot of room for improvement with this game. You guys are all awesome as usual!

Side note: has anyone here watched a Japanese TV drama called No Continue Kid? Xevious is featured heavily throughout the series, but especially in the first episode. The camaraderie in this thread made me think of it. The first episode is online here if anyone wants to check it out: http://dramanice.com/no-con-kid-/watch-no-con-kid--episode-1...

Thanks for sharing that!  I really enjoyed it, and it fit perfectly with this week's contest.  I'm excited to watch more of this series

Kind of annoyed with my performance with this game. I was hoping to break 400k since I got so close, but it just wasn't meant to be.

Well, I've never played this game before, it's pretty challenging.  Plus, I'm no good at shmups to begin with.  One thing that sticks with me is that you go on to the next stage if you die after reaching the 70% mark.  It's like the developer thought: "Ya, that was pretty hard; I'm not surprised you died; here have a cookie"...

All I'm thinking is: Oh Ya, Ninja Gaiden form 2 is pretty hard; you made a go of it, so here are some credits

While I was watching it, they said you could destroy those rotating gray panels by hitting them 256 times. Is that true?

Glad you enjoyed it! I definitely could have benefitted from that walkthrough notebook this week.

I'm not sure. I tried it but I couldn't fire off 256 shots in time. This was my button mashing face:

After the pier, wait until you get to the desert and flying walls again.  Right after you cross the inlet/lake again, there is a horizontal row of 4 ground items in the desert.  Bomb the line about 2 spaces above those.  It's pretty easy to get this 1UP, since there aren't any enemies around and you can start as soon as it's on screen and bomb just about the whole line.

Thank you! I found it.

Now let's see if I have enough time to crack the top ten.

I'd love to have a week where we all got on there and broadcasted our runs, but I know many of us (like me) don't have unlimited data plans.

I have another couple weeks before I'll be able to really dedicate time to the contests but I figured I need to at least get some participation points!

This week was super fun! It also got intense because erizisto kept topping my score. I have finally learned to appreciate Xevious and understand it. That's why these weekly contest are great. They force you to actually put time into some of these games and you really learn and have fun from it. Good game everyone!

I'm with you SG, but if this amount of participants keep up - I'm wondering if bimmy and gui are going to have to look at where people finish outside the top ten to establish playoff seedlings.

Im trying to get as high as I can each week in the standings.

If this is the case I hurt myself w/ Dr Mario.

I had a better score but didn't post it because it was still out of the top ten 😕
