2 of the top 10 games of all time are on the N64, and I doubt the Saturn has one in the top 100, this thread is dead lol

I think the mentality of “this system is better than that system” is way outdated.

Its not about the systems, it's about the games. Each good game speaks for itself

Sega Saturn for life. Such a great console and I think it's accurate rated. Not the best console of all time but man does it hold up well. Saturn does great 2D sprites and handles 3d well. The controller is the top controller of all time. It is the control for fighters and beat em ups. Total tits.

The only trouble with the Saturn is, it never did get a real Sonic game. Just a "Sonic All-Stars", a slightly dressed up version of Sonic 3D Blast, and a weird racing game that kinda sorta tries to be their version of Mario Kart but well, isn't.

Then again, the N64 didn't get a Metroid game either!

They're like yin and yang though. You can't have the hardware without the software, and you can't have the software without the hardware.

For me... yeah, I'm going to go with the PSX.
But it never even made it outside of Japan...and retailed for near $800!  Interesting idea but it along with the "luxury consoles" of the 90s (CD-i, 3DO, Neo-Geo, etc) are examples of too much tech, too soon, too expensive for most people, and thus, doesn't really catch on.

Dammit! I was hoping I wouldn't have to defend my position!

Alright here's where things get kind of ambiguous... Ultimately I can't recommend collecting for the Saturn, even though I love its catalog. Shit's just too expensive, bro. 

But here's a short list of games I recommend checking out if you can:

Dragon Force (totally addicting strategy RPG)
Guardian Heroes (unique and strategic beat 'em up)
Galactic Attack (reasonably priced and creative shooter)
Panzer Dragoon & Panzer Dragoon Zwei (unforgettable rail shooters)
Virtua Fighter 2 (super affordable 3D fighter)
Sega Rally Championship (super affordable and addicting rally racer)
Magic Knight Rayearth (fun little action RPG)
Shining Force III (strategy RPG--I prefer Dragon Force. Still Fun though

If you're willing to import (and you should)

X-Men VS Street Fighter (best version on any console)
Vampire Savior (pretty much arcade perfect fighter)
Soukyugurentai (affordable and creative shooter)
Gunbird (awesome shooter--cheap)
Radian Silvergun (it's Radian Silvergun...amazing)
Silhouette Mirage (super creative action platformer)

There's lots more, man. And there's plenty of great stuff I've never even played.


 

well im sure n64 has imports too , but

Im seeing alot of RPG and Shoot em Ups? on that list. Yawn.

Pretty much this. The Saturn has a much wider variety of available games and this is why the N64 has always been third for me when it came to that generation.

im a big saturn fan i think its a sick system but 64 has alot more to offer than people think. Overall i think there is alot of cool exclusives and great games like

stunt racer 64
snowboard kids 1,2
fighters destiny 1,2
goemon's great adventure
gauntlet legends
twisted edge snowboarding
castlevania legacy of darkness
fighting force 64
tony hawk games
bombermans
all the aki wcw and wwf games
Rush games
etc. I can go on

There are alot of great games that just didn't get over that well cause of the bad frame rates but i think once the 64 3rd party consoles come out
with perfect emulation and upscaling fps,textures etc. then some games with bad frame rates like mystical ninja and starshot might get a little more shine.

I think there is alot of potential with the 64. It just needs that 3rd party console with all the enhancers to get some more serious deep interest.
