I thought my copy was having an issue on the AVS, because the cart froze if you did not press start right away.

But then I ran it on the everdrive and everything worked perfectly. I'll have to try the newest beta firmware on my AVS sometime this week.

And I'm also having the issue where I will have it turned off and play my cart, then quit the game and go back to the AVS menu and it will have turned itself back on. It does it every time.

Other than that, I have not noticed any graphical glitches like I did with official 1.20. It seems to be fine so far for me.

This is pretty much my fiindings too. I tested a couple different games with 1.3b2 and 1.2 and found that H. Interpolation enabled didn't really reduce shimmering at all. The picture still looked better set to 5:3 pixel aspect and squished to 4:3 on my TV.

Same issue with the trying to turn it off. Every time I turn H. Interpolation off, start a game, and then reset it, it's back on.

Will be happy to test future versions, but as far I can tell, I think this feature isn't quite there yet.

1.3b! What a difference! Seems like interpolation is working correctly, and it's really nice. I feel like I might still be seeing a bit of shimmering on Ninja Gaiden's windows in the first stage, but it may just be me or my TV. It's harder to notice once scanlines are enabled. Unfortunately, I did notice an increase in crackling/audio hiccups, particularly in Bucky O'Hare and Kabuki Quantum Fighter. Still, this is a big step for the AVS

I did, too, and reported them to RetroUSB support. I encourage others to do the same with any clues so that they can get enough information to address it.

Yeah, I guess I should start reporting bugs there too. Fortunately, that's the only one I found.

Just tried 1.30b3 and also can confirm the audio cracking noise right off the bat. It's pretty noticeable too.

I still couldn't tell a difference with interpolation turned on. Is there a certain set up I need to go with? The bug where it turns itself on has been fixed though.

I already reverted back to 1.20b6. I couldn't deal with the audio cracking noise.

Are you setting the pixel aspect to a non-integer scale? It won’t have any effect on the default 4:3. Sliding it one more to the left will get you closest to an accurate aspect ratio.

In the same vein, it’s probably a lot to ask, but I feel like the aspect ratio setting could be redesigned to be a bit easier to figure out. Now that H. Interpolation is available, I’d love to see perfectly dialed in aspects like 1:1, 8:7, 4:3 for 16:9, 4:3 for 16:10, and full screen. The Super Nt offers these and it makes the whole setup process really painless.

I had it set to the default settings of the AVS. That's 4 ticks from left to right on the Pixel Aspect. So it should actually be 3 ticks from left to right on the Pixel Aspect? Is that correct?

Yeah, something simple like the Super NT has with its labeling of aspect ratios would be really cool to have on the AVS if it's possible.

Oh, and also, happy birthday!

Thanks! And yeah, default setting is 4:3, so interpolation wouldn't change the image at all.

Got it!

I'm back on older firmware now since the cracking in the audio was distracting, but hopefully that'll be fixed in the next beta and I'll be sure to set it to that.

I see firmware 1.30b4 is now up for download. Any of you tried it yet? If so, has the audio been fixed?

Yep, I just tried it out. The audio hiccups are lessened, but they're definitely still there from my testing. Feel free to test yourself though to confirm

Yep, it's still there  . And I just noticed this. There's faint looking vertical lines in the background (noticeable on solid color), but it only happens with interpolation turned on. Is this normal?

It doesn't sound normal, but I haven't seen what you're talking about. Would it be possible to post a pic or send it to support?

Sorry my camera is pretty junk, ha, but here's a pic:

This is on Friday the 13th if you have it and want to try it out on yours. It disappears when I turn off interpolation.

I'll try it out later, but I definitely recommend forwarding the picture to support.

I have the issue with the vertical bars as well with interpolation turned on in b3. Have not tried b4 yet. What's also interesting to note is that its not visible on every element. For example: the part of the image showing the side of a pipe does not show the vertical bars.

What functionality do the illegal opcodes add? Do they make Pirate games more compatible?

Yeah, that's weird. Definitely something going on.

Another way to tell they are there is to go to the color palette option and look at the color bars as you change the palette. It looks to be visible on every different palette, although on FCEUX it is very hard to see.
