Just for clarification, no score will be disqualified prior to the discovery that 500 points tanks respawn infinitely on 3rd boss, unless you admittely think your current submitted score most probably abused anyhow (like gutsman which was non intentional) this point loophole. I hope it is clear, if not questions are welcomed.

Yeah,my grind was due to trying to find the right distance to hit the higher battle ship turrets at an angle and in the process killing tanks so they didn't kill me. I have found out the tanks will spawn indefinitely at the 3rd boss unless you die. Once you die, they instantly stop spawning.

Not bad considering this week was my first time playing the game.  But at the same time I know I could have done better.

Had a very clean run earlier today in the TGV. Only killed the first tank immediatelly showing up when 3rd boss fight starts, and killed quite quickly the 4th boss to reduce the 10 points soldiers effect. Only died once very near the 3rd boss fight, but after the POW drop so it wasn't disastrous on score. Also, I haven't tested anything about it, but I think the variation in enemies over stages is not directly about lives lost, but rather about being fully powered. It seems that what triggers the extra enemies is being fully powered, does this would make sense?

It makes sense. I think it's a combination of things. Positioning, not dying, and being powered up or not.

Score Updated... This week was my first time playing this one. What a great game, I think of all the first time games I've played in the contest this might have been my favorite so far. Wish I had it as a kid growin up, that's for sure.

Man this was stressful. I didn't no death it,but I got close. I died to a helicopter right before the final boss and I died to the final boss once. So close. I didn't win,but I am for the most part content with this run. Now I can take a little break.

Almost was at the end of the game! Then a heli boxed me in, and it was all over!
I love this game because it is so much like my favorite game genre, shmups! I love games like 1942 and Xevious. (Among others.) But they all seem to default on planes up in the air. Or dragons, or angels... whatever. The point is, I think jakal delivers the same, great and intense formula. While keeping things looking fresh. Yes, its frustrating at times. But it has that certain, unexplainable type of frustration that more often has you chuckling at the end of your game, rather than cursing, and throwing the controller. The first Ninja Gaiden game also seems to share the same peculiar attribute.

I just lost my last life literally minutes ago. I really, really wish I had more time this week. This was a game my brother bought a while back that I never played and I only got a couple games in this week. This is a game I definitely hope we have in a contest again. I'd like another shot at it.

I went on to beat Jackal after posting my score, and I realize now that my brother and I never beat the game as kids. Another victory for the NA Weekly Contest.

This week was the first time quite a few of us played, I think.

But I definitely feel like I missed out not getting to play this one as a kid.
(also, I feel like it needs to be a twin-stick shooter)

yeah, it was nice to see others participating. Short game but not lacking in the quality of gameplay and controls.

On a side note, do we know if the leaderboard will be updated?

Hopefully it is coming soon.

At the beginning of last week I put together all of the updated scores from the past few weeks for Guillavoie and bimmy.

I'm about to ask for the privilege to edit others post just to update the leaderboard. Thanks again for compiling scores this week Nathan. I'll be back home in the end of this week so I'll be in a better position to take care of all these details.
