Does a top loader allow you to play all PAL and NTSC games?

Not much of a techie, so I was curious.

If I wanted to play PAL or Hong Kong/Asian version games here on my TV, would I need...

A.  A PAL TV and a PAL NES system.

B. A PAL TV and an NES top loader.

C. My current NTSC TV, and an NES top loader.

D. Some other option I haven't considered.

Your best bet is option A, although European power outlets are different from North American ones, so you'd need a converter to use them here. Although the top loader would play the games, to my knowledge it acts the same as disabling the lockout on a toaster...basically meaning graphical/sound glitches and speed issues.

you can play pal games on a ntsc tv and a top loader no problem, however there are a few certain pal games that do glitch the screen will flip slightly so the top is at the bottom making it imposible to play. at least that is my experience with pal games.

I currently have 4 PAL games, Ufouria, Mario Bros (Classic Serie), Asterix, Elite.

The first 2 play perfectly on my top loader. The second 2 have messed up graphics that make them impossible to play.

Theres a chip in the regular nes that if you disable it you can play pal games

Even with a disabled chip there will still be compatibility problems on certain games. The only way to play 100% of all PAL games is to get a PAL system. Most newer TV's are dual region and will play PAL fine from my understanding. I just use a toploader and "most" games will work.

About the power adaptor: A US NES power adaptor runs at exactly the same output as a UK NES power adaptor, but the UK adaptor has a slightly bigger "nozzle" which plugs into the back of the system so a UK psu will work on US NES's but a US psu is too small to work on a UK NES.
Who says size doesn't matter.....

But if you want to hard wire a US psu into a UK NES board this will work perfectly, this is how I have done a few PAL systems for US buyers on ebay.

Also anything that outputs AV should work flawlessly on most new TV's, my new AV Famicom works fine just plugged into my TV.

What about HK/Asian version games?

What systems will they work on; and what kind of TV would be necessary?

What? When were Asian versions confirmed as NTSC? I have 2 Asian carts and I'm more than 99% that they are PAL. Anyone?

NTSC is the TV format used in the United States (and a few other places). You'll also hear PAL on the boards quite a bit, which represents games from Europe, the UK, Australia, etc..

yeah i discovered what PAL is. just wasnt sure about the other. does US nintendos play PAL games?

after i get my american collection half way done, i'ma start PAL games.
