Dude, you're a dad.  They are game-playing machines.  Unless it is a game you have already mastered like Battletoads, I have to give them a massive edge.

 

I mean, they are.  We only had one player in the arnpoly/Bea/table tier of talent last year, and he decided to have a baby and get eliminated in the 2nd round.  Now we have 3 of them, no children in sight (as far as I know), and a shooter ace on top of that.

Plus I'm predicting Donkey Kong as one of the games and somehow I don't see your or I surviving that one
 

You are 100% correct.  But I'm gonna try as hard as I can, which should be worth at least double digit percentage chance!  Plus the tournament finals hasn't had a puzzle game that I'm aware of, so maybe it is my time!
 

Yeah, I'll do my best, but it's definitely possible I won't even make it to the final round. I can match the best at shooters, and yeah if one is in there my odds increase dramatically, but no way they're ALL shooters, so i'll surely be knocked out sooner or later.

I am just hoping that we get to play Super Pitfall there. And it would be sweet if we played Popeye too.  

Yeah. We could have a shooter in the third round and a puzzle game in the second. That would really suck for you.

It is... a bit better. I didn't forget to lose all the extra lives till I only had 2 lives left at the last stage this time around.
And didn't fumble so bad at the bonus stages either. I guess I can shave a few thousand points from it, but not much more than that.

What?! You mean you're underestimating me?! Inconceivable!  

I see it this way: I'm already at a disadvantage, so anything over finishing last in the first game will be a surprise to this group    I bet at the beginning of the year no one would have thought I'd be in the final leaderboard top 8 either. Or have made 10 straight top 8 scores in the weekly contest games. Not exactly huge accomplishments, but against this group, I feel pretty good about where I am at today!

 

If Batman isn't in the tournament, I'm out!

That would be a good incentive to use my paltry gaming skills to no death it again!
 

I can usually get to the Joker without dying and then it's a crapshoot whether I can beat him. I hate the Joker.
 

BTW, I ditched crappy Logitech PC gamepads for the Sony Dualshock 4 on my PC. I'm so glad I did. It was just delivered by UPS. Trying it out, it feels so much better and is much better made. I will NEVER buy another Logitech. Cheap crap that breaks within months.

EDIT: Thus far the DS4 is fantastic for emulation. It puts every other PC gamepad I've tried to shame.
 

When I emulate, I use a SNES controller that's USB modded, and it's the best.
 

Beware - even the latest version of the analog sticks will wear down in a year or so of regular use. They'll be all broken and shitty.

I usually use it for the digital pad anyway. But the analog sticks seem sturdy enough. We'll see.

It's still much more durable than Logitech stuff.
 

Oh yeah, compared to Logitech pads it's miles beyond regardless.

Screw this game. I just got my second highest Marble Madness score ever. It should have been higher but I had two deaths. Hopefully by the next contest I'll be able to get 177k (but I wouldn't count on it).
