Ahoy hoy,
I stumbled upon this site via Reddit where I read a massive post of a member from here ranking every SNES game. Eventually I decided to go from a reader/lurker to member.
My favorite gaming console just so happens to be the SNES, which I consider to be an excellent evolution of the groundbreaking foundation that the NES has laid out. To me the SNES is sort of the culmination of 2D (retro) gaming and it still had the amazing support from third parties, which was unfortunately lacking on later Nintendo home consoles. It probably also helps that I grew up with the SNES (although I played my first games on a Commodore 64).
While I always kept some of my old games and replayed a select few over the years, I haven't been into the collecting hobby until maybe a few years ago. My personal collection goal isn't to get a full-set of a specific console, but rather to some day have a CIB copy of every officially released console/portable RPG, be it Western or Japanese, action- or turn-based or even Strategy-RPGs. Of course I collect/buy/play other games as well, but this "goal" gives my collecting habits a focus, instead of buying whatever I can find for cheap. I also like to discover new games and maybe try something out, that I have never heard of before. It feels great to find your own personal "hidden gem" instead of just relying on recommendations from others.
As for my favorite games I would still stick to these 3 nostalgic classics though, as they have shaped my taste concerning games:
- Lufia 2
- Terranigma
- The Legend of Zelda - A Link to the Past
Anyway, I hope for nice discussions about games or maybe friendly competition in the gamer's gauntlet.
