Hello everyone and welcome to the latest installment of the weekly contests! I'm getting things started a little earlier than usual today because I have to work late tonight and I don't want to make you all wait for the start of this contest. This week's game is going to be Rollerball, so hopefully we will see some pinball wizards give it a try! Here are the rules:

1 player only
Play on Skyscraper
Play until Game Over
Take your picture on the Game Over screen. The screen will eventually go away, but you will have plenty of time to take a picture of your score. Just be aware it will disappear.
Highest score wins
GENRE: Arcade

The contest ends Sunday, 11/3/13 at 10 PM NA time. Your user name MUST be in the picture for your score to be valid. The entire TV screen, or computer monitor if you are playing on an emulator, MUST be in the picture for the score to be valid. No partial screenshots will be considered or accepted. No screenshots by hitting "print screen" on a computer will be allowed. You must take a picture of your computer monitor. There may be instances where this will be acceptable, but it will be at the discretion of myself and the contest organizers. Also, the use of turbo controllers is forbidden, as well as any cheat codes, Game Genies, or save states if playing on an emulator. Also, we will only be using NTSC systems for the contests. The use of PAL systems will NOT be allowed. Good luck everyone and have fun

I agree with Doug, this game is a lot of fun. It's definitely one of the top pinball games on the system, in my opinion. And I will probably participate again for this contest as well even though my score won't count toward the leaderboard.

I was in the zone on my second ball. First ball I didn't even crack 5k. Suddenly I got multiball on the top section and I couldn't lose! But then I did. Now I fear the magic is gone. oh well, such is life! Great game though. ^>^

Oh yeah Pinball! Pinball weeks are like vacation, you just sit down and spin the ball forever. Plus, this one is particularly fun on the NES.

^ Yeah,definitely a good game that I'm sure few people know about. I just wish it weren't so tough to shoot the ball up the right side from the bottom screen. Major pain to get the ball back up.

Was getting close to a million. I even got the free ball and still got screwed by the right side ramp on that bottom playfield. Major cheap factor there. I know someone is going to crack a million. When you do,I've read that you technically "beat" the game,as it shows you the credits. I definitely want to find out. I know someone will crack a million for sure.Anyways,this will probably be it for me until thursday evening.

Hopefully I can find a cart today at one of my local game shops. This is a fun game, but I can't stand playing on my laptop for long periods of time.

Getting 1 million points in this game will show you the credits and would technically be considered beating the game. I've done it several times and it's not overly difficult to do, but you gotta have a good ball or two to get to 1 million.

so i am never going to beat this one

I also included a pic of my setup, as this score (to me) seems really freakin high, i wanted to show no turbo controller and no game genie, etc (i know i didnt have to, but figured it would be the "nice" thing to do)

Here is all i can tell you

ball 1 - was a dud...make like 30-40K

ball 2 - got the multiball and bonus stage twice as well as got an extra ball...i was HOT here and beat my top score on this ball...i was close to 1 Mil when i lost it...and i was happy

ball 3- did ok, cant really remember

extra ball - i CRUSHED here...I got the multiball twice, as well as the bonus up top no less than 4 times (maybe more)

the BIG thing about this last ball, is I got all the cherries on the slot machine...THIS IS WHAT YOU WANT!
it basically sets everything in your favor (like the side ramp on the slot level always has arrow pointing up, the top bonus unlocks the multi ball and extra bumper, the very bottom level unlocks the kickback, bumper, and exit)

the cherries were key, as well was just basically killing it up top

the last tip i can give...try not to pay too much attention to the ball itself, but moreso the flippers...that is what i was keeping my eye/focus on most of the time, ESP on the top bonus

good luck to all...this score CAN be beaten...just not by me, again

No problem with that score mattyjmania, I made 4,7 millions with only one ball (no shoot again) in 2011, haha!

Indeed, when you get the cherries, it is much easier to score big.

I'm gonna play along with you guys again this week and Matt's score inspired me to give it a go this afternoon. I had a score yesterday in the 600K range, but I've got an even better one that I will share a little bit later. It's not as good as my personal best (which is 3,151,470), but it's still pretty darn good.

After playing for about two hours straight, I had a score of 960k and I was still on my first ball (with two in play) and my laptop froze up. I guess I'll have to try again tomorrow.
