Are we allowed to change the size of the players?

I thought about this myself.
It could be funny to impose a lineup that disadvantage human player, like all skinny, but I decided to let it free to the player. Anybody agree about this?

Oh wow. Apparently, I've always played it at slowest speed. 5 is the highest. I couldn't remember which button was pass and which was shoot, and I couldn't even find out because I had to pay attention to my goalie almost constantly. I quit in the middle of period 2 at 0-5. More attempts later.... 9.9

I think we should let the contestants choose whatever player size they want.  That way, people can experiment with different player sizes and use whichever ones they feel most comfortable with.

My NES collection count: 757 games (16 to go for a full set)

Latest Purchase(s): Snow Brothers

Damn I have to play vs Canada I'll lose for sure. Also I took part in the last event the Double Dragon, I received +1 point or something. Not really sure what the +1 is for if anyone would care to explain.

Agree. It will allow for an element of strategy.
This one is going to be a lot of fun! I used to play this game every single day with my friend after school and I beat him regularly by a large margin.

The +1 is the participation point.

I loved playing this game as a kid, I'm so glad a started collecting it brings back many memories of being a kid. I was the youngest in my family so when I was old enough to play games which would have been 94 when I was only 4. My brothers and sisters grew up playing it so it was no different for me. Anyways so I played 3 games tonight and it hurts me to say this but Poland leads the series 2-1. The first game I got destroyed by Canada the shots kept coming and coming 6-1 final score. Second game was much better final score Me 10-7 Canada. I wasn't able to take a picture of that cause the skate around for like 10 seconds and goes back to the main menu. So I was like crap I'll play one more, not much more to say I came out on top. Game four will be Tuesday night.

Don't start that crap yourself please

You just need to finish a game to get the participation point, and take the picture. Be prepared after the game, you don't have much time to do it.

wow, it's been a long time since i've gotten this mad at a game. my guys are fucking helpless. i can't think of another team vs team game where there's such a gap between computer controlling my guys and computer controlling the other team. yes, i'm taking a -13 for my score. this is ridiculous.

Ok, I don't feel so bad. Although I do feel stupid for not taking a pic on my first attempt (1-4)

I'm going to have to claim -7 for now.

It's pretty brutal though. I spend half the game playing goalie only hoping he catches it and can get some respite. But it usually just bounces and they keep shooting. I almost thought I could've scored once or twice there, but I have to shoot so dang fast or they'll steal the puck. Gah!

Edit:
Well, with two fat guys and two mediums I did way better. Next time I'll have to try 3 fatties.
Better being relative, of course.

Edit 2: well, 4 fatsos weren't any better. 3 big and 1 medium did better. Lots more action, too. I think I'm starting to actually get the hang of this game, but am away all weekend..... Tempting to take the NES along....
Edit 3: Ha! I took it along and look what happened! 4 fat guys rule the day! (at least relatively)
Holy cow. Can't get the image in the body, have to attach. Stupid other people's computers! (or something)

Edit2: Updated score again. Hope this one holds! There isn't really time to try again...

Edit1: Updated score.
Yes! I finally shut the bastards out. I really got on a roll in the 3rd where it was just face off, skate, shoot, repeat.
Ooh, and I have a confession to make: my previous score was invalid! I goofed last time, I had been playing on speed 1! Suddenly everything was going by so much faster when I started this attempt and I soon realized why. Playing on the lower speed was good practice though...

Original post: Yay! I'm having a lot of fun. Will play some more for sure!
Lincoln and Polonius: Don't get discouraged by those maple syrup drinkers... you can do this! Maybe you just need to use more fatties?

Ok, this game just sucks for taking a picture! I hate how the score flashes at the end of the game. I took 3 pictures & none of them showed the score and I beat the Canadians by 6! Arrgh!

You can pause the game after third period to take the picture. This makes it a lot easier.

Bump for new score.
C'mon bros (and sisses), let's get some more scores posted in here! It's been pretty quiet this week, hopefully that means one of you is saving a real jaw-dropper for the near future...

No jaw-droppers for me.  I'm having a hard time with this game.  Hopefully I'll get a score posted by Sunday, but it's not looking good.  I've never been a big fan of this game.  Blades of Steel is my favorite hockey game on the NES.

^My recommendation is to be conservative on defensive, if they're anywhere remotely near your goal just switch all your focus to goal-tending. That's what always trips me up, they always score on me when I'm too preoccupied with trying to steal the puck.

Haha yes, it's hard to beat a game that actually has the correct number of skaters! Not to mention mini-gradius during halftime!

Edit: Duh, I mean between periods.
