WoN display case find (with lengthy story)-
I woke up this morning, did my usual morning CL search, and saw that this case was just listed. I contacted the seller right away (as I'm always on the lookout for these bad boys), and got to dealing. Seller placed the ad for $750, and had it on eBay for $1000 (both OBO). As the excitement from me finding one for sale wore off and the high price tag feeling set in, I told the seller if he didn't get anyone that offered $750 (or close to it) to please contact me; this hurt me to do because I knew I'd probably miss out on it, but with the limited info on it I couldn't just blow that much cash on it. Anyways, he told me just to make an offer, but before I could respond back he shot out a number (that was significantly lower than his asking price) and stated he just wanted it gone. I jumped all over it, and here we are. The transport was terrifying (because of my own lack of preparation). The seller was about an hour away from me (driving the speed limit and whatnot), but on the way home I took only main roads, white-knuckle drove, checked my rear-view every 5 seconds to just stare at the shaking glass and hope for the best, went way under the speed limits with my hazards on, and avoided just about every pothole, bump, etc. (to the Michiganders out there: you know how the roads suck here). What I really wish I brought with me was pillows and/or blankets just to put in the case on the way home to support the glass. I didn't want to stand the case straight up on the way home because I only had some shit bungees with me, and I didn't want to have the glass face down, so I tilted the case (as shown in the pictures). It ended up getting to my spot with no damage or broken glass. I dried it off (it was raining quite hard on the way home), wiped off some dust bunnies, spider webs, and other grime from the bottom, and transported it to my basement and set it up next to my other WoN case. I didn't realize until I got them next to each other, but what this one lacks in height it makes up for in width; It's a foot and a half or so (I haven't measured exactly yet) wider than my other case. As stated in my PC thread, I believe it is complete except for the peg board on the back and the shelves (if it even originally had them in there). Overall I'd say it's in very good condition with some rust spots and minor blemishes, but that's hard to avoid. It still has the "customer service assistance" sign/stickers on there, as well as a smaller sticker with a Nintendo Power promo (which is pretty fucking sweet). Another very cool bonus is that the original price stickers for some Game Boy products are still in there; I took a photo of two out of the four price stickers (one for a Super Game Boy for SNES, and one for the original GB Basic Set. The stickers are kind of faded and meh looking, but you best believe I'm leaving them in there. The light is original and has the original cord which is a bonus; a couple of my other signs/displays have newly-spliced cords on them.
I don't know if I'm going to get some peg board and shelves for inside of it. I figure I could put some of my larger statues in there, or my Nintendo Powers as it has that awesome promo on there. Anyways, here are some photos!
