You're not missing something. They have magnifying glasses with lights, you can look to see the printing pattern. Then open it up to check the pcb, snes central is a great resource to cross reference but it's usually pretty easy to spot a fake. Wires and such sticking out of the board.
I agree with the second comment, take a look first in person before jumping the gun.
