Game-Tech-US. Have you thought of a "Kickstarter" type project to get this out there?

The demand for this will be strong enough that he won't need a crowdfunding project.  However, I'm sure he appreciates your help in trying to get it out there!

Def no reason to give money to kickstarter, the youtube vids and forum threads and simple word of mouth will be more than enough.

I have a HDMI modded toploader from bunny. It has limitations in that it won't work on some tv's. Would this work on all tv's? Also, is the audio carried on the hdmi port as well or does it require a separate audio cord?

The audio is built in. It already supports PAL/NTSC and many resolutions including 1080p. It conforms to HDMI standard so it should work with any HDMI television.

Nightshifts lol, I watched/listened to all 3 long videos

Correct answers as far as I know.

This is really, really awesome. I am definitely going to invest in either this, or bunnyboy's HDMI nes when it comes out. Do you anticipate it will continue to be available into the foreseeable future? With such a long waiting list do you think you'll start hiring some techs to help speed up production? Haha. I am particularly thankful to see it was designed with no lag..that is awesome. I have found almost all NES emulation laggy in some form or another. Difficult games which are almost impossible without save states on emulation, become actually beatable on a real NES/CRT. Hopefully "no lag" does in fact mean "just as crisp as CRT". Does it?

I'll be the only tech, but kit production will be handled by an assembler, Kevin will set up a test fixture, I will do instals and handle kit sales when we get to that point.

You answered your own question about lag...

Very interesting project, I think I might hold off on the NESRGB for this. Would you consider doing an e-mail list for the project? Something for big updates and when your ready to accept orders.

This sounds super cool. I think I will probably go with the AVS still as it will have the scoreboard feature, but competition is always good!

I thought the scoreboard thing was only going to be part of the powerpak2, am I wrong?

Forgive me if this is addressed anywhere, but, are you planning on adding a reverb feature to the audio (accessible from the menu)? Every so often I've heard just a modest amount of reverb added to some NES tracks and it had a nice effect. Not really an important feature, I'd probably prefer crisp, pure 8 bit audio anyway, but, it would be kinda cool. Maybe even add atmosphere for some games. Thoughts?

*edit* come to think of it, adding reverb, or simulated stereo effect would be neat, too...with these big flatscreens there are also better audio situations which could be made more immersive.  Speaking for myself, a feature like that might push it over the edge for me!

who said it required a top loader? Looks like it just needs the cpu and ppu. Looking at one of the videos it look like they had a front loader test rig.

Thanks I didn't see that! I was kind of ASSuming it was like the other HDMI hookup meant only for top loaders.

Very very cool.

I would love to see a simple RGB/480i mod too.

Without the console I will probably stick to an emulator like Benihana.

Just to be clear, I don't play on an emulator. The reason I need a computer with softare running is for posting scores to the NA Scoreboard through the AVS system.

Ah you beat me to posting the link...
Copy of Kevin's nesdev post:

I got the HQ2X/3X/4X scaling working now and made an example video of the HQ3X at 720p. I cannot record 1080p unfortunately so I can't capture the 4X one in video.

There's no audio because I needed the room for the scaler. Because space constraints have been hit, I am going to stuff another board with a bigger part that fortunately has the same pinout, hopefully alleviating my space issues.

With this bigger part, I should be able to get VRC7 in there too. (VRC7 is around 1300 LEs, while the HQX scaler is 2230 and the 65C02 core is 1320).
