Konami must have had a significant supply of 5 screw shells left sitting around long after everyone else ran out.

But then why aren't there any back labels?

One theory is that they were refurbished after the print runs of the games or they are some sort of demo/promo carts. I'm leaning towards the latter
Could this be true for other publishers? I have a 5 screw elevator action with no back label

Curious, Why isn't my Defender of the Crown 5 Screw listened in this thread? It's pictured and listed in the 2.0 thread.

Also, I own Metal Gear 5 Screw, Snake's Revenge 5 screw, Star Force 5 screw, Jaws 5 screw, 2 copies of Gyromite 3 screw, and Donkey Kong 3 screw. I'll post pictures if needed. Haven't been active on the forums for a while.

Hey I picked up this copy of TMNT 2 Arcade 5 screw from my local game store here in Kent Ohio. Was wondering if anyone had a bit more info on this game or value. Not trying to sell, just understand what it is lol.

everything is up to date

Seazzy what you have is what is referred to as a "factory mismatch" basically it's a 5 screw game which should not be one
some people think they are refurbished games. some people think they are demo or kiosk copies of some sort.
They only really appear to be from Kanomi/Ultra. I personally don't like the name factory mismatch which is why I just call them Kanomi / ultra five screw oddity

The fact that NONE of them have a back label is certainly a major clue why I think that they were never released or sold in stores officially.

Goonies 2 evidently exists as a "factory mismatch" as well. Has the newer Seal and security screws no early 5 screw would have. Label is in poor shape though.

Um wow new evidence of another kanomi/ultra 5 screw oddity appears the label damage is really most disconcerting though.

My main concern is that the damage appears as though someone ripped the label off from the top

Thanks so much for the info!it was a weird thing to run into and I’ve only been collecting for a couple years, so initially thought it was fake. Especially since no price chart reference and little google info. Glad I picked it up for sure. Do you or anyone by chance know what it values at?

If we're talking about that Goonies 2, all that is stuff anyone could do at home. I would consider it suspect. I can get a back of a shell, take off the sticker, put it on a five screw front, swap out screws. That's an easy one to fake.

My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Ferris pass out at the Let's Play Gaming Expo last night. I guess it's pretty serious.

Oh, my WTB thread is very popular. The sportos, the motorheads, geeks, sluts, bloods, wastoids, dweebies, Richard craniums - they all adore it. They think it's a righteous thread.
I'd also like to add that I've got my father's gun and a *scorching* price guide for aftermarket Nintendo games.
Between Dragon Warriors and nothing... I'll take Dragon Warriors - for any of my FT/FS/FO items.

yep which is why it is not added to the list until it's proven as I said the label looks as if it was ripped off
(remember 5 screw carts don't have the tabs on the top of the cart)

made a discovery while doing some sorting tonight- i have a 5 screw simon's quest cib!

I picked this up "sealed" quite a while ago. it was a bad reseal, and i finally peeled it off tonight to check against the loose cart+manual i had. the book and cart look nearly new, save for the top label which is completely lifted (but not damaged). unfortunately the box has taken a beating.

Pretty darn cool!  A 5 screw copy of Simon’s Quest has been at the top of my want list for the better part of the past year!

Picked up a 5 Screw Star Force completely randomly!

The battle for the mind of North America will be fought in the video arena — the videodrome. The television screen is the retina of the mind's eye. Therefore the television screen is part of the physical structure of the brain. Therefore whatever appears on the television screen emerges as raw experience for those who watch it. Therefore television is reality, and reality is less than television.
