I received my AVS back in September and put away my NES-001 with Blinking Light Win for back-up in case I found anything the AVS couldn't handle over the original hardware. Since then the AVS has handled everything I've thrown at it.

With the exception of zapper and R.O.B. games (I don't own a CRT TV) does anyone know of any other limitations for the AVS that might make me want to hang on to my toaster?

Depends on your TV really. If you notice a bit of lag, you can go back to the toaster. If you dont have a CRT though that won't help any. So yeah chuck the toaster in the trash

Yes, keep your toaster and just do what I do:

I use my Toaster still probably more often than the AVS. Not because I dislike the AVS but because the Toaster is in my office and I play it while my wife works on the computer in there. I tend to play the AVS more when I have the house to myself and can blare the in game sound on my surroind sound.

Just make sure to play your AVS still.

Nah. I knocked mine off my desk last week while playing a game. It hit the floor pretty hard and nothing happened. Game kept right on playing with out issue.

I kept all my systems. Toaster is mostly for flashing (GTROM) and testing games, top loader for light gun or ROB games on the CRT, and AVS for the other 90% of my NES gaming.

Find a CRT in your house or pick one up at a garage sale and get a little setup in another room for when you have an itch for games that only work on a CRT.

I've played my AVS on 4 different HDTVs and MTPO works like a charm if I have the TV set to game mode.
I beat Tyson today actually 😝

I thought of another reason you might want to hold onto your toaster. You will need it if you ever go for a record.
