Spent some time this morning talking to the postmaster. Shipping is going up soon A one pound or less priority package is going up 40 some cents. But the biggest change is going to be sending packages across the country. He was telling me that when I send something pass zone 4 The package will have to be measured and weighed. the mississppi river is the end of zone 4 for the east coast so anything past it will be higher in shipping

It's going to be interesting to see how bad it is overall. I know that if you ship a standard bubble mailer with a single cart @ 5 oz, it costs $1.35 + 0.14 (DC) or $1.49. With the new rates, it's $1.81 + 0.14 (DC) or $1.95. That's a .46 increase! Wow, pretty steep IMO for a tiny parcel. I guess we should all be thanking those Priority Mail crooks out there that abuse the free shipping materials.

You should also be thankful you don't live in Canada! One NES game in a bubble mailer usually costs about $4.50 for USA bound packages, and even more going to the other side of Canada...

It costs the same to ship to the opposite end of Canada as it does to ship to a town an hour away. Canada Post = GAY!

"It's always amazing to me how some of the most worthless games from a gaming perspective tend to fetch outrageous amounts of money. But then again, it could be said that something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. I'm curious if the high bidder of the $873.04 Stadium Events (cart-only) realizes that it's nowhere nearly as rare as about 20+ games I can think of that sell for 1/10th that amount?  At any rate, I wanted to draw attention to this trend: if people say it's rare, it must be true, and therefore it must be had at any price."

Maybe for you crazy westerners.... Out east, it costs less to ship to Quebec (and east) than it does to ship to Ontario (and west).

It cost me $7 to ship a 2600 cart from Calgary to Edmonton in a bubble mailer. Not including the cost of the bubble mailer. GAY!

Does anyone know whether shipping from the US to Europe will get more expensive (I checked the site and it seemed like it might be getting cheaper?)? Just curious

It seems like it's essentially a .50 increase. So every 10 packages I'm spending $5 more. That's a pretty steep increase if you ask me. Last time PM went from 3.85 to 4.05 (+.20). This time they almost tripled that increase to $4.60 (+.55). And to ship a single cart @ 5oz, it's now officially $1.99 (+.50). The % increases seem pretty outrageous to me, but what can ya do?

I haven't had the pleasure of shipping anything since the increase, although I have a few I need to send off.

My understanding is that USPS said they were tired of operating in the red for so many years that they want to get into the black again. I don't see how the could have been losing money before with how much it costed to ship stuff but they should make out like bandits now. I just hope I can get a Postal job eventually so I can make some of this bank they are taking from us

This probably means the ridiculously inflated shipping prices of eBay will be moreso now...  Luckily my desired collection is drawing to a close.

its getting to the point that it just isnt worth it to buy the low end games one at a time.

Generally it never is.  That's why I always try to get at least 2-3 with folks when I can.  The ship rates are still generally rip off lies, but I try to think of it as a "price per game" basis.

I just shipped Jumpman's package to Canada and that damn thing like doubled in price to ship out of US. He got 7 CIB games from me. How much you guess it would cost? Used to cost me 6-8 max. So to be fair to NA member I told him $10 thinking that would have to cover the increase. It came to a few pennies under $13. That really sucks, may become harder for our breathern in our colony to the north to get games shipped to them, or MORE EXPENSIVE still....

Wow.  13 big ones?  I'm glad I'm not in Canada.  Gasoline is expensive, shipping is expensive...  Luckily pizza is the same price.

The one thing that really annoys me about the rate increase is there has been no service increase. My one sticking point is about 15% of all of my eBay orders are for international customers; my rates are fair I ship anywhere and my combined shipping is reasonable. But for the majority of my items going overseas, I have always had to walk into the post office and wait in line to let the clerk scan that stupid little customs form. I can't drop it off, I can't pre-post online it unless I send using Global Priority which is 4-5x as expensive (at least!).

This is teh gayxorz.

So the one thing I was hoping to gain from this massive 133% increase in price, the restructuring of the international mail system in MY favor, was to be able to print a customs form for small parcels (4lbs and less) and drop it off instead of waiting in line. No such luck. Their entire overhaul of the international mail system wound up just being nothing more than a name change and a rate hike.

I blame NGD.

It's probably fair to blame Jason anyways as he's sitting at home by the pool eating pizza every day getting PIZAID still! :-)~

Dammit, Jason!

Dan, I couldn't agree more! You would think they could come up with a way for us to ship these airmail parcels more easily, especially now that we're paying a premium.
