I'm going to do Mother/Earthbound for sure, which still requires you to do it the "old-fashioned" way, with a donor cart.

I'd also like to do a run thru with something that uses the ReproPak as well, to show how much easier it is. I figured I'd ask and do the most popular request. Anything is game, as long as it's supported by the ReproPak, which is for the most part, anything except MMC3 games.

You can check out NES Reproductions for some examples of common repro's.

If there is enough interest and get a number of requests, I'll set up a poll.

If you don't know whether a game uses an MMC3/etc. or not, just ask and I'll let you know.

If its not limited to unreleased games, do Stadium Events (cnrom)!

For typical repro carts I would say California Raisins (unrom) is the most popular. To give some other ideas:

Adventures of Dr Franken (unrom)
Badminton (nrom)
Pescatore (unrom)
Hotman (cnrom)
Yie Ar Kung Fu (jp) (nrom)
Galaxian (jp) (nrom)

Sounds like he is wanting to explain how to do it for an easier game that isn't as complicated as some of them. I would just love to learn how to do it for any of them

Most if not all SMB2j games that use a common NES board are MMC3, which he is already doing with Earthbound. For the ones mewithoutYou52 suggested:

Mini Putt (mmc1)
Ice Ice Hockey also mmc3

so basicly you have to download the rom then use a EEPROM burner to burn onto a chip desoder the other chip and then soder the new one back on to the right game of course and it should work

I could do a different MMC3 game than Earthbound if enough people wanted something else. I just figured Earthbound is probably the most wanted game out of that category. If I have time tomorrow, I'll write up a quick list of games that are do-able with a ReproPak. And no it's not limited to unreleased games, open to anything, fan-made hacks or even Stadium Events

Out of the list of what's available at nesreproductions.com, here are the ones that can be done with a ReproPak:

Unreleased:
California Raisins: The Grape Escape
Drac's Night Out
Final Fantasy 2
Hero's Quest

Translated:
Badminton
Cocoron
Dragons of Flame
Egypt
Galaxian
The Glory of Heracles II - Titan's Downfall
The Goonies
Hotman
Labyrinth
Mini Putt
Moai Kun
Sweet Home

Hacks / Homebrew:
Castlevania - Chorus of Mysteries
Challenging Lolo
Rockman Exile
Zelda: Outlands

Pretty much everything else there is MMC3, so if there is something you'd rather see than Earthbound, feel free to suggest it.

This is an awesome idea. I have everything I need to do this and have already done a California Raisins cart, then I tried SMB2j and it never worked so I gave up and have been procrastinating ever since.

Maybe we could create some artwork (stickers) for them too and trade amongst ourselves.

Well suggestions are all over the place, but it looks like California Raisins wins I'll probably do this one tomorrow night so only one more day to change my mind! Earthbound is set in stone now because I did it last night

Any way to make the Jap version of Contra (patched into English of course) without having to resort to buying the actual Jap PCB and re-burning the ROMS? Damn those custom mappers...

-------------------------

My mantra, as worded by SamSpade on 06/12/12:
I don't resell to fund my collection, I don't treat this hobby like a second job, I don't care if my collection is worth ten bucks or ten thousand because I never plan on selling it. Seriously, what does the value have to do with anything if you never plan on selling? Speculation doesn't mean jack shit to me at this point, I just want to play my nes games...

I think the hardest game to repro is Final Fantasy 3 because you actually have to add things that dont actually fit onto the board.

The other thing thats always confused me is in trying to determine which games correspond to the different boards.  Its easy to figure the mapper.  Its another thing to figure out an whether the game needs expansion memory or not.
