I'm getting to where I can no-death the first two areas and then the third will come with time. But man, there is so much to remember. Forget one little thing such as a frog or dropping platform and you're dead and have to start over.

Great pick for final tournament game (I mean it!).

I bet that by Sunday you will be crushing my score and dominating the tier 1 group.

I hate this game. For every run to world 4, I have 20 that I flubbed because I gradually get more and more impatient and frustrated with the game

It's not a bad game. It would be more fun to play through casually. The problem is we're trying to no-death one of the hardest games on the NES. Every death start back from the beginning and so many ways to die.

I kinda like this game. It is fun, but it takes a lot of time to make to the later stages in one life.
A poor jump can end you run pretty quickly then it is starting over.
I am having fun so far, but I didn't have the time to put in effort to improve my score today, sadly.

I played for 7 straight hours yesterday, with one 30 minute break for food😳

And no update?

Fine, poker hands it is.  I'll see you on Sunday.

This isn't poker, it's chess

new score below old score 257,210

I think I've finally hit the wall. 33 weeks of busting my ass off seems to have caught up to me, as I'm finding it excruciating trying to keep any sort of focus each night. The burn out is knocking on the doors. As soon as I die in world 3 or 4 its a safe bet the next dozen attempts are going to a comedy of errors, until I force myself to walk away for a couple hours. I think I died on 1-1 at least 8 times today.

And even doing the cobra trick, I started world 6-1 with 50K less points than Richard. I need to stop being so bad at this game.

I wish I could get 400K and call myself bad...

Last minute score snipes have almost done me in twice in a row. It's perfectly legit, and my own fault if I choose to sit comfortably on a score while other gamers are grinding at it, though. Several times this year, I've either lost track of time, or had some other catastrophe at home to deal with prevent me from posting on Sundays, so I've tried to be more proactive and get my score in earlier in the week. Eh, it's just the ebb and flow of a friendly competition. The only guarantee is to just do your best and post it.
In all fairness, the last score post (that I'm aware of anyways) from Tier 3 came in from Red at 8:22 so there were still 2.5 hours left.  I hear you though, it's a gambit.  Do you post the scores early and have others use that as a benchmark or wait until the last moment and lower the boom?  Either way, I wish you good fortune!

Well, I meant "last minute" fairly loosely. As in, the last part of the week long event. Rereading my post it looks like I'm implying it like a very last second poach on an Ebay bid, lol. 8:22pm still left a very generous amount of time to post, I'm just tucked in for the evening at that point.

Honestly, I got lazy the past two weeks. Been dealing with a bunch of stuff at home, so I got what I thought were solid scores, put 'em up, and walked away. I'm very confident I could have scored higher, but I figured it was good enough to stay in the runnings, and I've comes THIS(makes tiny gesture with thumb and index finger) close to getting bumped out. I'm going to have to work my ass off this week. I'm a completely green noob to AI, and this is the finals. I think I'll come up with an OK score, but the odds aren't in my favor.

No matter what happens, I want to say that I've had a blast participating in the weekly contests this year, and look greatly forward to next year's games. I have seen some absolutely insane scores from you guys, and I feel like a better gamer just for having participated. Thanks for having me!

And thanks for this fine piece of work👍

Anyone that doesn't have something from him should probably check out his store😜

Always welcome! Sorry for the late response. It's been a crazy week. Crazier than most, even.

For real though, it makes me smile to see my sprites in the background of some of you guys' pics. I'm taking a short break from making them for now, but I'm always open to ideas projects from NA'ers.

This game... it's so hard. Today I'll try to reach area 4 with one life so I can play catch up with you guys. But it's such a hard game to learn because so much memorization.

You guys are so lucky Kobra caught a puzzle game.

Anyway, hey, here's a lil distraction. Wrong place to post technically but you guys/gals are who I want to hear from

Guy offered me kid klown for my 5 screw bayou billy. I passed.

My thought is, I can always shell out for kid klown, not sure that is the case for bayou billy.

What do you guys think? Hit me with your best shot!

I know what you mean about diminishing returns from practicing so much.

I could grind a game like Lunar Pool until 3AM because it doesn't require quick reflexes. It's just trial and error. But this game I can only play so much until I'm too frustrated/exhausted to continue.

At least you've been playing since early last week. I didn't start until Monday because I had to take a couple days off from video games after Palamedes.

Bayou Billy 5-screw is definitely more rare but hard to put a value on.  My gut feeling is that would be a pretty good trade for you though.  Kid Klown seems to be worth around $200 and I can't say I've heard of a cart like yours going for that high.  Plus Kid Klown is one of those carts that can go through a drought where you can't find one for sale at all for awhile.  (Having said that it looks like there are several available on eBay at the moment!)

I would probably take the kid Klown but honestly I don't have much interest in either game. KK is also tough to find in good shape so tht might factor in a bit.

You made the right decision! I didn't even know a 5 screw Bayou Billy existed😳

Hopefully I will be able to find time to play tomorrow and improve my score. It is fairly disappointing.
Maybe I will be able to make to world 8 in one life even.

I no-deathed to 3-3 today. I'm gradually learning how to play this. Areas 1 and 2 are getting easier and easier, and I'm making progress with area 3. I may have a shot as long as Brock and Krunch don't start posting higher scores.

I still believe you will end up posting the highest score of all of us.
