Thanks!  I think I'm about tapped out on my progress with Tetris/Dr. Mario. I know I can get a better Dr. Mario score (as I have in the past), but it's a much longer burn than Tetris. Tetris has pummelled me so far this week.
 

You may be right.  I'm a total n00b with that game and it's my first time playing. I transitioned at a certain point, then popped out of a big Christmas present. Those fire throwing guys are annoying. But mostly, that boss is different. I've not figured out how to beat him yet.  I'm emulating on PSP and it's not nearly as awesome as the NES emulator for that platform. I'd love to play this game on original hardware because it seems like a lot of fun!

Damn. I never played Batman Returns. I actually do like this game, I just never got around to it.

That's the thing when you have a month to play. There's that "eh, I can always do it some other day... I have all month" feeling.

Couldn't do it. I came really close to beating my Tetris score, and I apparently unlocked "Green Z's and Yellow Squares Only" mode, and died unceremoniously. This is fun though, I think I'll dig up my PSP and play along next month too, if PSPs are allowed. Portability = playability for me. I won't top any charts, but I'll play along.

Eh. I wish I had started playing these games earlier in the month. I will post my scores shortly.

I'm also trying for the 500k. It ain't going well. One thing is for sure, once this is done I won't be touching this game for a veeeery long time. Maybe I'll play some NES Tetris to cleanse myself..

Score submitted page 1. I really wish I had scored higher in Tetris. Dr. Mario is not a game I enjoy playing much.

No problem at all.  Rereading what I posted, it sounds like I'm taking credit for updating the scores rather than mentioning that I submitted my own scores  

Batman Returns is a ton of fun on the SNES!  Some of the stages transition like that to other sections while you're playing through the game.  When you get to a new scene (level), the game lets you know.  The tall fire throwers can actually be attacked and defeated by jumping in the air and throwing a Batarang at their head.  Once you get the pattern down for the first level boss, he's actually quite easy.  He does a lot of jumping around and spinning across the ground and those attacks can be avoided pretty easily once you get his attack timing down.  A fun little note about the first level boss fight which I discovered on my own when I first got the game:  When the fight first starts and the clown is holding Selena Kyle hostage, you have a couple seconds to shoot your grappling hook into the wall behind him before he starts moving.  If you hold back on the D-pad and press the button for the grappling hook again, you pull a chunk of the wall out and hit him with it, causing a small amount of damage to him.  I thought it was neat the game programmers included that little bit to nearly replicate that scene from the movie.

this version of Tetris is brutal.

Ha!  I thought the graphics were spectacular.  Some of the sprite work done for the backgrounds was fantastic.  They did a great job capturing the mood of Batman Returns I felt.  You're right on the cheap nonsense though, get kicked down and then won't get up again sometimes because of perfectly timed longer enemy reaches until you lose a life.  I got through the first 2 levels with no problem.  The grappling hook platforming part was kind of cumbersome the first few times I tried.  Boss wise, Catwoman kicked my butt.  I just couldn't consistently get the right rhythm and lost an embarassing amount of lives there.  All-in-all, as this was my first time playing Batman Returns, I felt it a pretty good beat 'em up.  Not the best on the system but definitely better than several others.

Ah, Stryphos!  You took me down once again! </3  Nice scores, BTW!  I just couldn't get over that 191k hump. As for Dr. Mario, perhaps ONE more run...

I've enjoyed playing with you guys on these!  I'm looking forward to getting actual carts for the contest games!

That is correct.  The Tetris/Dr. mario and Barman Returns contest are closed and Brock has the thread posted for the July games, Super Buster Bros. and Ken Griffey Jr. Baseball.

I did try, to no avail. I said I was done with Dr Mario, but I was making no headway with Tetris so figured I'd at least try one more, I did improve that one a little. But not good enough  

I enjoyed it too! I'll be joining in from now on I think. At least one of the two games anyway
