*If this has been posted before in some way i apologize*

Hey! So recently i have been beefing up my gamecube collection, especially locally. The problem i have bee having is finding games cib. I run across loads of disc onlys and it drives me nuts. It has gotten a bit expensive making the discs into genuine complete copies.

So i guess my question is this!

Does anyone here collect disc only? Or is it cib, or cb at the very least? My ocd kills me owning loose discs.

I'd never collect disc only personally. The only reason I can see for wanting to do so is a complete lack of space, and even then if you're THAT hard up on space I might just say emulate instead.

Lol i am glad its not just me. Sometimes we get extra manuals and art at my part time job but thats completely random and is up to boss discretion. I used to order bulk manuals from another game store but they went out if business which means its harder to find the random inserts/art/manuals locally. I looked up a mario party 4 manual today and the one undud see *Could have missed something* was like 15 dollars. Which i I just cant justify.

I have one loose disc in my collection, a copy of Super Smash Bros Melee that my Dad found at a thrift store for $5. Pretty much the only acceptable disc only game imo

I do not collect loose disks. I might play around with a loose disk I acquire in a lot if it was a game I've wanted to play for a while. If i enjoy it, I seek out cib.

I will only buy disc games CIB. The come in a case designed to hold a manual, so it should be there when I buy it. Same goes for Genesis.

I try to only buy CIB, but if I can find a really good deal on something disc only then I'll go for it.

I refuse to buy from GameStop used discs online because I won't do disc only.

I don't have a problem with the disc only if you would just want to play a certain game. And with the cover project you could get art and throw it in a DVD case.

I don't think I've ever purposely bought a loose disc, they have always come in lots with other stuff. I have some of them around but they are mostly sports stuff at this point.

Ugh. Gives me the willies. I've had a disc only copy of Klonoa for years that I have yet to complete.

I don't seek them, and prefer complete for disc titles, but sone of my collection is disc only - there are various ps2 demo discs that are virtually only attainable as disc only or they were released in a simple clear sleeve. I also have an extensive Japanese DVD-Video collection that is almost all disc only - they were promotional videos used in gaming stores.

Aside from unique items like above, for retail games I think most people prefer complete - the cases look nicer, protect the games well, and are far more durable than older cardboard games.

I also assume that more people kept them and thus there is a significantly greater ratio of complete disc-based games out there than say, NES games.

I found some good SNES like dust sleeves that don’t make them so bad.

That’s a super idea for whomever made them. Growing up I was meticulous about keeping my Genesis games in their cases so now o just can’t keep loose carts.

Personally, I only go for CIB. But if you just want the games to play or prefer discs in a binder, then go for loose!

Collect the way that brings you the most joy without breaking the bank.

I only collect CIB for disk games but do get loose ones if they're cheap and I think I can find the case and manuals down the line. I imagine most people who buy disk only just want to play the game and aren't collectors

I dont care about the condition or how complete my games are as long as I can play them and have fun with them (although I do prefer complete games)

I collect them. They don't bother me. I just put them in generic cases until I come across a case or a CIB with a broken disc. Yes, I'm a "Frankenstein-er". lol

I don't go out of my way to collect them but if I see them super cheap and aren't scratched to hell and back I'll take em most of what few I do have came in mystery boxes anyway.

I won't buy a loose disc ever if I'm looking for a game or come across it, expect in the exceptionally rare case of two reasons. One, I was given a really nice case with no game everything else there, or I got an expensive game ridiculously cheap (as disc alone or a questionably worn disc ) and I'll pay for the rest to still come out way ahead. I've done this a few times in the last year or two with the PS1. I was able to get the case+etc for free because the idiots at goodwill left the games out to be stolen. In both situations I paid around $15 for both Breath of Fire 3 and Diablo and I'm sure you're aware what those are worth.

Normally when it comes to game carts smaller than GBA (like Memory card sized stuff smaller) and optical I refuse to buy unless they're complete. For the cards I don't question if they'll work, but they're so small they are easily lost or damaged. And for discs, ignoring what I said before for exceptions, it shows me the former owner was stupid, a pig, or just didn't care and usually what I've seen are not clean discs, sometimes they look miserably bad in spots or all around meaning they likely won't read or skip out in play. Usually if someone cared enough not to thrash the easily cracked or scuffed jewel case odds are the disc is in pretty nice shape too which mostly holds true.

I hate that disc only crap on Amazon or Ebay. God, that really pisses me off. I understand not keeping a gameboy box or a super nintendo box but a disc?

Went ahead and bit the bullet getting cases and manuals for my Mario stuff on GameCube. Wasn't cheap. Also that cursed mp4 manual still hasn't popped up on eBay.

For some reason, when I buy lots it seems the GameCube games are usually disc only, along with randomly PlayStation. Everything else is usually cib for at least cb.

I still have some art and manuals I'd like to do things with, but people generally don't cut you much of a discount on disc only games on eBay, or at least that's been my experience. Patience is key I suppose. Along with avoiding buying disc only.
