Hello everyone and welcome to the latest installment of the Weekly Contests!  This week's game is going to be an NES classic:  Mike Tyson's Punch-Out.  For those who do not own Mike Tyson's Punch-Out, you may use good old Punch-Out with Mr. Dream.  Here are the rules:
 

• Fight Glass Joe, Von Kaiser, Don Flamenco (Major Circuit), King Hippo, Piston Honda (World Circuit), and Super Macho Man
• Password for Don Flamenco and King Hippo: 005 737 5423 (fight King Hippo after defeating Don Flamenco) Or, password to King Hippo (135 792 468, press A+B+Select on the last number.)
• Password for Piston Honda: 032 730 8442
• Password for Super Macho Man: 267 853 7538
• Get the fastest time you can against each boxer
• The clock stop glitch is forbidden
• Take your picture on the results screen after each match (make sure to have 6 pictures, one for each boxer)
• If you opt to take your pictures on the KO screen (where Mario says TKO or KO), your milliseconds time will automatically be 99 for that boxer
• If you cannot beat one of the boxers, your time for that boxer will be 9:00.  Do this for each boxer you cannot beat (excluding Mike Tyson/Mr. Dream)
• Add up all of your times to get your overall time
• Add three minutes to your time for each round you complete (ex. 1:34:00 of round 2 = 4:34:00 overall for that boxer)

• Fastest overall time wins
• GENRE: Sports

BONUS POINTS

That's right, this week you guys can earn some bonus points on the leaderboard.  This is entirely optional and you do not have to submit the bonus score if you do not want to.  Here's what to do:
 

• Fight Mike Tyson/Mr. Dream
• Password for Mike Tyson/Mr. Dream: 007 373 5963
• If you beat Mike Tyson/Mr. Dream this week, you will earn 1 bonus point on the weekly leaderboard and Sports genre leaderboard (be quick with your picture after he is defeated)
• Whoever beats Mike Tyson/Mr. Dream the fastest this week will earn 3 bonus points on the weekly leaderboard and Sports genre leaderboard

 
The contest ends Sunday, 9/6/15 at 11 PM NA time.  Your user name MUST be written or typed on a piece of paper and be in the picture for your score to be valid.  The entire TV screen, or computer monitor if you are playing on an emulator, MUST be in the picture for the score to be valid.  No partial screenshots will be considered or accepted.  No screenshots by hitting "print screen" on a computer will be allowed.  You must take a picture of your computer monitor.  There may be instances where this will be acceptable, but it will be at the discretion of myself and the contest organizers.  Also, the use of turbo controllers is forbidden, as well as any cheat codes, Game Genies, slow motion functions, or save states if playing on an emulator.  Also, we will only be using NTSC systems for the contests.  The use of PAL systems will NOT be allowed.  Good luck everyone and have fun

I might have to make time to bring it this week so Doug doesn't run away with this.

I should be able to cut down my Super Macho Man and Mike Tyson times with some practice, but I'm pretty satisfied with the rest of them.

I'm pretty good at this game but not speedrun good, but we'll see how it turns out.

As of tonight I had a pair of 2:46's. I had him down at 1:00 and blew it.

I did have a decent second kd time of 1:51 also... I think really could of been a 2:30's KO.

I got my overall time under 5 minutes, so I'll work on that Tyson time tomorrow. I should be able to cut at least 10-15 more seconds off of my Super Macho Man time, but he's a real pain.

 

Man I remember when I beat this game for the first time. There was a lot of swearing at the tv until I got past Mike Tyson then I felt like I was on cloud 9

Your only times off world record pace is Macho and Tyson. I think you can sleep easy.

 

I got my Super Macho Man time down to 1:21, but I know 1:00-1:10 is possible if you get really lucky. My Mike Tyson time was 2:36 the last time we played, so I need to work on that one since apparently a few people have been able to break the 2:10 mark since then.
 

I'm good with everything except my Tyson time, so at least you know what to shoot for.

I can't tell if I'm just super rusty or I'm dealing with display lag issues. Probably a little of both.

I'd like to shoot for the 2:20s, but I don't know if I have the patience for it. I'd feel better if I could cut another ten seconds or so off of my Super Macho Man time, but I either get the wrong pattern or make a timing mistake that throws everything off.

I still need to work on my Tyson time, but I've gotten the rest about as low as I'm going to get them. 1:17 still isn't world record pace for Super Macho Man, but I'm convinced that getting those times in the 1:00-1:10 range involves a combination of voodoo and witchcraft.

 

I think Von kaiser is gonna be the tough one for me. I can beat Tyson but not like you guys.

I'm still two seconds over my Von Kaiser time from the last contest, but the slightly quicker strategy is a lot tougher to pull off than the one I used. It would be just my luck that I'll end up getting beat by two seconds come Sunday.

I can get four punches in to the head right at the start but I can't figure out the timing on the fifth punch before you start with the gutters
