You'll probably surprise yourself with a lot of the games.

Honestly I think this is probably the best I can do in this game ever in one loop.

If the Virtual Console is not allowed then please disregard this score of  336260.

First is the 3ds + name, second is a close up of the score and third is a shot showing that it is a US 3ds.

Yes those are TMNT sheets/pillowcase and blanket on my bed. Why? Because GO NINJA GO NINJA GO!!! I miss the 80's and early 90's

I'm going to go with your last console high score and disregard the one on the 3DS.  I don't know enough about the version of Life Force for the 3DS, so I'm going to play it safe and go with the NES hardware.

-------------------------

My NES collection count: 757 games (16 to go for a full set)

Latest Purchase(s): Snow Brothers

You can do it! I'm sure you'll post a similar score on the nes version.

So I had a great no death run of 308k that fell far short of my current score. But since I no deathed it I thought "hey, let's just see how far I can go on one life." Survey says.... (gates at the end of the 2nd loop)

So after that...with my 24 lives,I thought..."hey,now let's see if I can beat the third loop as the difficulty maxes out on the third go around.
Done! The first time I have ever looped it 3 times. I nearly lost all my lives on the first three stages as it had been quite some time since I even played the 3rd loop and it definitely takes a bit to get used to.

So,after beating the game at its' max difficulty I thought.."hey,let's see if I can get a million points."
Didn't take a picture (wah waaah) but I got my million freakin' points!

And then....I thought...."hey l'll play by the play until life 0 rules.

And lastly....but definitely not leastly ...I played until I expended all my lives and this was my final score: 1,128,140

I died near the end of stage 6 on the 4th loop. I was hoping to complete this loop, but since I wasn't powered up at all to start the last stage it was very tough to stay alive. I believe I started with 10 lives at the start of this stage. Had I been powered up like I normally am I think I would have done it. Either way this is absolutely the best run I have had on Life Force and arguably the best run I've had on any game period. Even if I don't finish first this week I am absolutely ecstatic on what I've been able to accomplish on this wonderful, wonderful game. I hope everyone is enjoying this game as much as I am and good luck to everyone!!

After a long night of trying to reach that score again on the toploader I figured why not switch it up and went emulator.

It was going perfect then BAM damned moai and spread gun turrets. Got 324250, and if emulating is discouraged while one has a physical copy disregard this score as well.

On a good note I have found what may be a previously unknown 5000 bonus point spot, and with that I need to go to sleep as I have to work later.

Another game I hadn't played prior to this contest. I like this one a lot more than Marble Madness. This is my best run so far, and first no death run. Definitely going to pick up a cart for this one. I might have time for another tomorrow, but I'm pretty happy with this score.

Speaking of the bonuses, does anyone have a good list of them? The ones I've seen only go through level 3, but I think i've randomly hit some in the later stages as well...

After the second arm from the ceiling in stage 1 where the ceiling grows down just to the right of its base, it can be grabbed after everything finishes growing but you need to get close.

You guys are insane. I only beat the first level once

Updated the scoreboard - this is some seriously fierce competition! Just looking at the scores it seems like you guys are getting really close to the theoretical maximum.

Okay, Bimmy asked me to replace him today as he is attending his grandfather's funeral, so this is the contest mod talking.

Are you going to use a fourth setup on your next score submission? Please, stick to your orginal one which was the best possible, the original console. Submitting better scores with emulated setup only raise flags on you, and you're making the whole contest look bad right now.

I'm back from everything now and I'm siding with guillavoie on this one.  Switching up the setup of the submitted scores multiple times in one week only raises red flags, so it's best if you stick with your console scores.  This goes for everyone as well.  Switching from console to emulator to anything else looks sketchy.

I would disagree, but to each his own.

I can think of a number of legitimate reasons for playing an emulator after having played on the console.

If anyone can submit a score from an emulator, then a person who previously posted a console score should also be allowed to use an emulator.

Maybe they find they prefer playing with a keyboard instead of their original NES controller that needs to be cleaned and repaired so it misses button presses.  (or in a similar way prefer a USB controller that uses actual tactile switches)

(member-specific portion redacted... I would like my argument regarding "switching" to stand, though, for the reasons stated)

^^^ WOW!

So I know of 9 bonuses, I think, (2 in the 1st level, 4 in the 2nd level, and 3 in the 3rd level... my 307k score was missing 2 from the 3rd level), so that would take me up to 320k-range that you posted earlier.

Where did you get the extra 10k? That is pretty incredible!

It really makes me wonder what I failed to kill, though maybe I was on-base with my comment earlier about letting enemy generators spawn as many enemies as possible and killing them at the last possible moment.

You can't really point rack in this game, but there are several spots where you can jack up your score a little. Stage 5 is the best place to do so.

Yeah, I could see that, I think. That is where the REALLY fast generators are... didn't realize it was good for 10k, though!

I still need to get my 307 posted, but I don't think I'm going to have time to spool up and try and match that monster score of yours, though.

Congrats, because that is a BEAST.

Thank you for the kind words! I've been hammering away on this game on and off for a total of about four days. I've always been extremely good at it,but this go around I've pushed my skills even further and I'm pretty happy that the hard work has paid off.

As far as the extra points go,it's not all there, but you can get a surprisingly good amount of points in stage 5. Of course to get this high you have to take some risks and luckily for me none of them backfired. A 335k+ score is possible, but tough to do. I'm not sure what the theorhetical max score for one loop is....maybe 340k-ish. Either way I think it's pretty much impossible to kill absolutely everything in this game unless maybe someone is ultra skilled in manuevering their ship at max speed to be able to get to every enemy....but I still think that's extremely improbable.

UPDATED SCORE! 52580

I checked online for Lifeforce strategies, which allowed me to find some of the hidden 1-ups. So I could had a larger margin of error to play with. But when I got to the 4th level, it all went to Hell.

The trick is to hug the left of the screen until after a prominance starts, then you can go over or under it until it's done. Your missiles and/or forcefield should protect you from all the fireballs that shoot straight out from the fire.
