Hello everyone and welcome to the latest installment of the Weekly Contests!  This week's game is going to be Kickle Cubicle.  Here are the rules:

• Play until you have no extra lives remaining (no Kickle faces are present in the upper-righthand corner of the screen). In other words, your run ends when you have only 1 life left.
• Secure your score before going into a boss battle.  You cannot see your score or lives remaining while fighting a boss.
• Any sort of extra lives loops (getting a 1-up, dying, and repeating the process) will be forbidden
• If you are able to make it to the final boss battle on one continue, secure your score before going into the fight (you earn no points for boss battles)
• Playing the special rounds is not allowed
• Highest score wins
• Participation: 500,000
• GENRE: Puzzle

The contest ends Sunday, 4/30/17 at 11 PM NA time.  Your user name MUST be written or typed on a piece of paper and be in the picture for your score to be valid.  The entire TV screen, or computer monitor if you are playing on an emulator, MUST be in the picture for the score to be valid.  No partial screenshots will be considered or accepted.  No screenshots by hitting "print screen" on a computer will be allowed.  You must take a picture of your computer monitor.  There may be instances where this will be acceptable, but it will be at the discretion of myself and the contest organizers.  Also, the use of turbo controllers is forbidden, as well as any cheat codes, Game Genies, slow motion functions, or save states if playing on an emulator.  Also, we will only be using NTSC systems for the contests.  The use of PAL systems will NOT be allowed.  Good luck everyone and have fun

I'm new to this game. What are the special rounds and why are they not allowed?

If I remember right,some item will show up on the screen....like a ring or something like that. When you collect it,the enemies will disappear and the play area will be filled with bonus items which will give you a lot of points. I don't remember if there's a time limit to collect it all or if you can take as long as you want.
 

While I think it's obvious, the rules do not state that the use of a password is not allowed. No passwords, correct?

Is there some way to get a higher score using passwords? Because it's a high score contest it seems like playing from the beginning would be preferrable anyway.
