I mean, I love MF too, but I don't know about top 3. Maybe if they had more than one great album and two good ones. And KD just kept trying to repeat the Abigail formula to diminishing returns. Still probably top 10 though.

I'll also admit that when I first heard Ghost (2011 or so) the very first though I had was MF because of TF's voice. But yeah, not really an apt comparison at the end of the day.

It's also no secret that I'm a Ghost fan. Probably one of the best live shows I've ever seen.

I'm not including sub genres and all that shit, for example I wouldn't put them in the same catagories as Symphony X (Prog Metal) or Death (Death Metal) which I regard pretty highly as well.

But as far as straight up vanilla metal goes they are definitely on top for me, nobody else sounds like em.

I also enjoy the 90s Mercyful Fate albums (Very unpopular opinion, I know).

For KD albums from "The Eye" and onward I can understand the crtisism but that is just his formula, his albums are horror stories. He isn't the type of artist who is going to really evolve much in that sense, he has his niche and he sticks to his guns and it works for him.

Great music, very 80's influenced and super catchy. I don't really get into all the costumes and stuff but it doesn't take away from the music for me. My band has started playing the song "Rats" which has a killer ending guitar riff. (no video or audio of us performing this one yet).

I give them a 7.

I never gave these guys the time of day based on their look. I just figured they were some grunty facepaint metal band whose dark souls were only exceeded by the darkness of their dark music being played in their dark basement.

I gotta admit, these guys rock. I really dig the sound. Kind of a throwback to 70s 80s heavy metal with big guitars and organ/keys. I get a strong BOC vibe. After watching the videos, it's a good look for the band and the way they perform. A little too gothic for me but it makes sense.

I'm at a solid 7 as of voting. But I could see liking them more assuming the depth of their albums holds up.

Count me for another vote for Nickelback.
