Ha, kind of.  My best is probably just under an hour and a half?  I honestly got lost in this run because I was drinking and just started collecting items.  It's by far my favorite game of all time.  I'm sure I've beaten it like 20+ times.

arent speed runners around like what an hour? You arent that much longer than that.

The contest is probably already near over on the 4th day of the month if you can already do that   buzzkill

I mean unless there is a speed runner or someone who has the game memorized like you that you probably might not  get alot better. Especially since you literally have the entire month to take it serious after your self admitted buzzed goofing off run was already very quick.

Just depends on who decides to randomly join the year long contest this month. Probably are alot of people that can beat that , just depends if they want to put in the effort after not being in the contests all year. Depends on who sees the thread and has time.

But NA has way more hardcore NES players than SNES. In an NES comp youll usually have high skill level players at everything. SNES , not as many.

Yeah, the extreme pros here like rdrunner and Mexican Runner are NES guys. Andy and pegboy are pretty elite SNES players, but peg probably won't play and I'm not sure if Andy is going to want to dedicate the time for a master SM run

I haven't beat Super Metroid in over 20 years. And when I did, it was after weeks of playing short sessions after school. This feels super intimidating.

Super Mario LL on the other hand, I'm ready for it.

I don't know if these pics count, I didn't know what else to take pics of. But this is the first time I ever finished Super Metroid! And I kinda breezed through it. I mean, yeah my time was very slow, but I also don't know the game that well. But I only died twice. The past few times I've played I've made it almost to the end but got stuck on a boss or two and just couldn't do it. I have no idea what I did differently this time but it wasn't a problem anymore. But yeah there ya I finished Super Metroid

Not a bad time. I think with the space jump you have to press it once you start decending, but can't wait too long or it will 'time out'. I don't think you can space jump while still acending.

Wall jumping is a bitch to learn consistently. Even to this day I still can't do it 100% and I've beat this game hundreds of times. Practice makes perfect on this one.

Have you played Redesign? If so, can you wall jump very well in that one?

I haven't had a chance to get into SM at all this month. At this point I doubt I get a run done. I can always throw up a Super Mario score pretty easy, but I'm going into SM completely cold, not having beat it in over 20 years.

Not a single SMB score so far.  I must admit I was anticipating that being one of the more popular games.

Looks like you guys have the same time. I'd use % as the tiebreaker, but neither one of you uploaded it. Oh well, tied for 1st

Man... I've been so busy with other stuff I haven't even put Super Metroid back in. Doubt I could beat 1:17 with so little time. I was expecting to play this all month... but then the NES thing happened.   I have let down my love of Super Metroid.

I'll try a few runs at SMB tonight. I'm really surprised no one attempted it, too.

I got a 0:50 last night and was waiting to see if I could trim it down a bit, but I'll post a picture later tonight regardless.

Yeah, not sure about SMB... guess people just have too much on the go or are ready for next year.

Since you've gotten such good times, I'm curious... do you bother beating Ridley in the first encounter or just do the harder fight later? Lately I've been beating him in that first encounter and then go into the fight at the end of the game underpowered and used charge shot to win. Don't know how much time that really saves me, if any.

Probably just the time of the year.  Plus people might be burned out on competitions by this point.

Between the holidays, starting a new job and spending time with Metroid, I haven't spent much time with All-Stars. I'll put up a score tonight or tomorrow, though.

And 0:50 on Metroid? Holy cow! Nice work! There's not even a remote chance that I can compete with that.

Oh, my completion on my last run was 34%, I believe. Not that that matters at this point.

I will be putting up scores for both games at some point tonight. I started on Super Metroid a few days ago, but doubt I will be able to complete the game tonight (not sure I will have the time).

-------------------------

My NES collection count: 757 games (16 to go for a full set)

Latest Purchase(s): Snow Brothers

"Wait...Bimmy and Jimmy??  How'd they make a mistake like this!?  Bimmy isn't even a real name!"

Beware the Bimmy Marsh!
