Not a find, but a sale! (and an interesting one at that).
Like collecting hobbies past, I felt that my game collection was growing too fast with too many things I really didn't want, and things without a ton of value. I've been taking games, toys, and accessories to a video game store and exchanging them for credit, but they did not want everything I had.
The next step was to take these to the local media store. They looked in the box, saw a PC game and refused the whole lot. Okay then...
Sold everything on CL this morning for $10. I lost a ton of money, but anytime I can get rid of something in exchange for cash, it's a good day.
It's true, that's the reason why I sometimes buy things extremely cheap if I have some interest or if I know I wont play it ever I dont buy it or just resell it for a small profit.
When I started collecting video games, I decided I wanted the biggest collection as fast as possible. It lead me to buying a lot of junk I really didn't need. I'm taking my second box load to the game store this upcoming week.
Anyway, I lost out big time. I figured $10 was better than dropping them off at the thrift store.
I figured the same, had a lot of junk, lots of tidbits here and there, lots of manuals, cases and slip covers for games I didn't have and games I won't be playing anytime soon. Today's my lucky day, a new game store will open today and I'll take all those games and trade them in and hopefully get something that's worth while.
I took my first load to the game store a few months ago, and I got something like $175 in trade credit. Took the guy like 3 hours to sort through and price everything.
While I could have made more money selling individually, I decided to trade them in. No hassle, no shipping, no listing, no scheduling to meet with a buyer...
My plan is to wait until it's all said and done, and then try to get the most expensive game with my credit or use it towards a tougher to find system like a TG-16.
