I Finally set up my board and have been practicing like crazy, who else plays?

Any pro tips or advice on best darts, throwing technique?

I don't play in a league or anything, but I would if I had a board. I enjoy darts as well as pool, but don't have access to either at my house Fun activities to play though.

I always have either good darts/flights and a shitty board, or vice versa. Obviously I don't take it too seriously. I don't bother practicing even when I have a setup, because plant me in a pub with a few pints and I'm on fire, every single time. I think that inebriation quells any nervousness/etc.

If I know any hints, I'd have to get drunk to tell you.

Well tonight my girlfriend just beat me in cricket -.-
I was ahead, then she just nailed like the next 5 shots and tied everything up. We spent the next 10-15 turns trying to bit bullseye, fiiinnally I hit it. Her next dart was a bulls eye. We play with redemption and sudden death if there's a tie. It only took her a few darts to hit bullseye again, simultaneously sealing the deal and destroying my ego. Lol.

Is it strange that I thought her being good at darts was a turn on?

Hell no. 

Darts is awesome. I'm real horrible at it, but I love to play. My neighborhood bar has a few boards and hosts tournaments on the reg. you should check out youtube videos of Phil "The Power" Taylor, dude is a dart machine.

I haven't played in quite some time but my board and darts are still hanging on the wall. I used to play quite a bit at the local bowling lanes but they took out the boards when they renovated and never put them back up.

So you are around 26-28? I was in 8th grade when pokemon came out and I'm 28. But yeah I just say cause usually when members say something like "when I was young" I'm expecting them to be 30+ but usually end up being some 16 year old trying to buy games from me with they're parents paypal. You are still young anyways.

On the dart topic, I've played in a few tournaments / leagues / etc. It can get pretty addicting. Almost every bar in our town has at least one board so it's always available. And as jonnylentilbean said, sometimes having a few pops with a game can work wonders. I have my own set of darts, but I find I can do just as well with the cheap bar darts after a quick warm up. Personally, I like to stand perpendicular to the board and extend my arm as far as I can over the line. Some people prefer to stand parallel. It's all what feels right to you.

Yeah, lately I've just been watching videos of the pros and trying to do whatever they do to see how it affects my game. Its an interesting process, I'm going to start recording my cricket games scores and see how I improve over time.

Dude, I've played darts for years! I've played league for about 4 years. There are so many pointers, but just find your throw. The biggest thing is to keep a consistent stance and throw. Don't move from left to right on the line, stand in the same spot for the 15, Bull, and 16. Make sure your elbow is only a "hinge". From your shoulder to your elbow there should be no movement, just parallel to the floor. Don't line your dart up like a sniper, just look at the number, straight arm, hinged elbow, and throw! Lol, I hope that makes sense!!

Anyways, it's nice to see this thread. I actually have an Arachnid arcade dart machine in my house, I'll post a pic! Let me know if you have any questions!
