Next time, let's do a "bonus points per level beaten" rule or something, perhaps an additional 1,000 for level one, 2,000 for level two, and so on, since it gets harder and is more impressive to hold a life that long as you go further.

I really like this idea, Stan.  I've done this a few times over the years (actually, we did this with Ninja Gaiden last week where people got bonus points for beating the game with extra lives), but not nearly enough.  I really need to do more stuff like this in future contests.

Well Said and i agree. Never thought about mario and tetris for example. Eitherway its still pretty tough to have a good (max score in level 1 and then a gret bird kicking run in level 2) run, without dying. The frustration of trying will slow some down lol. I got aggravated and needed a break after last night. Probably give it another run this evening.

Yeah man, after playing for awhile, I start losing my life on stage 1. When you're out of focus, it's hard to keep the concentration to play battletoads flawlessly.

Even if we're playing for points this week, we can still claim bragging rights for going further in the game. Since Stan posted his score up to Manus, I'm working to beat him at it even if the contest is about points. If I max out the score, I'm taking my picture, but I'm not going to power off the NES. I'll try to get as far as I can regardless.

Damn bird kickers!  Get out of here!  Yeah, those mines, as well as the fireballs in the inferno, can be a bit random.  Luckily you can weave through the fireballs easily, but these mines can sometimes trap you at the bottom or top if you get unlucky.

nice run quillavoie!

I didnt get a chance to play last night, but plan to go a couple more runs at it this weekend if i can find the patience lol. I also died a bunch of times trying to max score in level 1, freaking pigs ram ya off an edge! ugh hate that! Especially at the end of level 1 where the three pigs come out, thats tough to maximize off them without taking hits.

If there is a hell, being forced to play Battletoads must be how the worst people there are punished.

LOL agreed 1000x over

Nope, the worst has to be Stealth ATF

Try posting the picture again.  I've tried to view it in a couple web browsers and it won't show up.

@Parpunk: I don't usually accept pictures without usernames, but since you already submitted one score earlier in the week and I can verify that it's the same set-up in your new picture, I allowed your 661,100 score.

Man you're the second guy to die on that Mr. Frosty!  He throws one high, then one low, jump up during the low one and you land right on top every time.

On a more serious note, I've played EarthBound today for so long, I feel all tense and mentally worn out.
Then you called your mother and felt better?

Have you kicked enough birds on stage 2?

There's always something.
When i get a good score on level 2 i fuck up in the later levels and vice versa.
Pretty frustrating.

This time, I scored at least 250'000 on the bird stage, but as always, those stupid arctic caverns killed me! What's interesting is that I can do the surf level without dying...
Anyway, my last and best score for this week:524900

999,999 - Stage 6-2

Finally got past the surfing level without messing up!  It was funny finishing stage 5 and coming up just short.  I scored the last 10,000 by completing two rooms in the snake level.
